Focus on God's Promises

5 Stepping Stones to Your Destiny
By Abraham Israel

"The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."" (Psa 110:1, NKJV).

This is a a Psalm of David which was exactly prohesied 1000 years before Christ came. David saw in a vision and had spoken about the day the Lord Jesus will be seated at the right hand of God after His resurrection. The day Jesus ascended in to the heavens after His resurrection this prophecy was exactly fulfilled (Eph 1:19-23; 4:9-10). But the great truth about the above verse is that the moment Christ seated himself at the right hand of God's power over all creation, Father God said to Jesus "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." If we ask how long is this time period where Christ is waiting on God to make His enemies His footstool? The Bible clearly says "now we do not yet see all things put under him" (Heb 2:8). This makes sure that now in the present time the promise is on hold and Jesus is waiting and interceding for us all, before the promise comes to pass on the day of Armageddon very soon where all the world system of governance will be made a foot stool under His feet (Rom 8:34), and He will rule the earth with a rod of iron (Rev 19:14-21).

Another important truth that we can learn from the above verse are from the two important key words 'Sit' and 'Till'. The first keyword 'Sit' means to relax spiritually in the finished work of Christ's righteousness with out us trying to work out our own righteouness before God. The second keyword 'Till' means until God's time comes to crush our enemies, we stay still trusting his promises believing that he is already pleased with out us working anything. So the crux of the matter is, when we are tempted by the enemy of our souls in a particular area of our life, if we keep believing the imputed righteousness of Jesus as our righteouness instead of trying to justify ourself and our conscience by any lies that Satan and his diabloic cohorts says to pacify it, God in His appointed time will completely paralyse and crush the enemies plan toward our life. As a warrior in God's army, our duty is to resist Satan and his cohorts by faith in the finished work of Christ when he will say otherwise in our soul (1 John 5:4-5). Once we resist him with the truth of God in our mind, he will become scared and run away. But he will come again to tempt us and test us until God's appointed time of victory comes (1 Peter 5:8-10; James 4:6-7; 1 Cor 10:13). After that point of time Satan and his cohorts will be crushed under our feet by God Himself through His mighty power and will not be able to torment us as before (Matt 4:11; Luke 4:13; Rom 16:20). Praise the Lord!

Five things we can learn from Jesus' life today,

1) Be Persevering : If Jesus after having received all the power over the entire universe, rules it day after day but waits for the promise of God and the timing of God to step in and fullfill the prophecy that God the Father had promised Him, why can't we in our short span of life wait until the promises of God which He has promised us be fullfilled at its appointed time.

2) Be Prayerful : Jesus was not idly wasting his time knowing that the promise of God will come to pass after nearly two millenium later only. But the moment he got seated in the high power of God's throne he immediately started to intercede for all the people who will believe in the times to come till the prophecy get fullfilled. Who knows if not for His prayer by now we would have died in our sins, but for the grace of God released through his intercession we are alive, well and saved looking forward to a glorious future ahead. Praise the Lord! We can easily say that till God fullfills his promise in your life for anything He has promised, keep interceding for the lost souls which makes God glad till then. You decide whether you want to waste your time on earth idly doing nothing worthwhile or be a friend of God because of sharing his heart concern for all the people around you. Remember, John Wesley one of the greatest man of faith in the last five hundred years of Christian history said, "God will do nothing but in answer to prayer." Your prayer for the lost souls is of great value in the eyes of God.

3) Be Passionate : When you are concerned for others, you yourself will be fed by God's abundance. The Bible says, "He who gives to the poor will not lack, but he who hides his eyes will have many curses." (Prov 28:27). The unsaved men who are living in this planet earth are the poor people who really lack the blessing of salvation. You who are saved give what you have by witnessing for the Lord. Write the name of one person a month whom you know is not saved and keep them in your regular prayer. Give them love unconditionally and live the truth of Jesus before their eyes. By the way, 'blessing' means 'the empowerement to succeed'. 'Curse' means 'the empowerment to fail'. I believe most Christian people live in the curse of poverty because they live a fruitless and worthless spiritual life. Failures are those who do not care about failing. Successful people are those who take stock when they fail and try a different approach to succeed by persevering in their walk to destiny. Spiritual failures are those who have no burden for their soul or for other's soul. But dare to be different by praying for others. I promise you that God who sees your passionate heart for souls will make sure that you will not lack in anything. You will be blessed spiritually, soulishly, physically, financially and socially. In all the 5 realms of man's existence, you will be called blessed by others.

4) Be Positive : If God has promised you something and you are waiting for it to be fulfilled, I encourage you, it is on the way but do not waste your time in depression, fuming and fretting. Every thing positive that you do between then and now will decide whether you will inherit the promise of God for you. Encourage yourself by talking to yourself. Say always, 'I am the child of God who is destined to inherit the promises of God.' What does the scripture say in this regard, "35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise." (Heb 10:35-36, NKJV). To have faith and to perseverse till the appointed time of God's fullfillment of promises is the will of God for your life. Faith is the base but the appointed time of God is the destiny for you. By the way don't throw away your foundation of faith, if you do the whole building which is your destiny will fall by the way side (1 Tim 1:18-19).

The simple formula for success with God is, Faith + Patience = Promise [inherited on God's Appointed Time].

5) Be Participating: God has a great future and a adventurous present for you, but you need to participate in the program he has prepared for you. Waiting and presevering for God's timing of fullfillment for that which He has already promised in your life is your cross that you carry on earth. This participation with Jesus in following His footsteps and carrying your cross is what makes you reach God's destination for your life at the end. Jesus clearly has said, "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple." (Luk 14:27). Only the disciples will receive a great reward (Mark 10:26-31). When Jesus speaks about rewards, he speaks of all things related to the salvation of the souls of men as the work that is worthy of reward (1 Cor 9:18;Col 3:24). C.H. Spurgeon says, "There are no crown wearers in heaven who were not cross-bearers here below". "Fortune favors the bold, but abandons the timid", says a Latin Proverb. Because the Bible says, "the righteous are bold as a lion" (Proverbs 28:1), you need to fight boldly and audaciously against the adversary Satan and his demonic plans to make you lose focus of your glorious destiny. You need to resist him by submitting to the cross of God again and again as Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane (Mark 14:36, 39). He is a destiny thief (John 10:10). You need to constantly make the destiny thief to run away as often as he comes to trouble you by resisting his evil temptation to make you believe his lies, which in turn will cause you to lose focus of your destiny (James 4:6-7). You are more than a conqueror through Him who has loved you with an everlasting love, he will fulfill his plan and lead you to your destination without fail (Romans 8:37; Jer 31:3; 29:11; Ps 32:8). I believe that you being a bold cross-bearer on earth, will be a crown-wearer along with me in our heavenly future. Praise the Lord!
