Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name!
Yes, when we die we will enter in to the New Jerusalem in our spirit as per what has been revealed to us by God through apostle Paul in the Bible. He says, "to be absent from our physical body [after our physical death]....[is] to be present with the Lord." (2 Cor 5:8). Where is Jesus now residing? He is there in the New Jerusalem at the right hand of the Father and is in control of the whole Universe (Heb 8:1; 10:19; 12:22-24).
After we die physically, the body will be sown back in to the earth from which it has been formed initially by the Lord in the Garden of Eden (1 Cor 15:44; Gen 2:7). The body is sown as a seed in faith of the coming resurrection and it will become the dust from which it was initially taken from, and after a while of decomposition, no trace of even the bones will be there as it will all become fossilized in to the earth to form fossil fuel to power the earth. But God is able to raise up a new body even from the dust and ashes, that is what we have hoped like our Father Abraham who sacrificed Isaac with that belief in his heart (Heb 11:17-19). Hallelujah!
So we know that our spirit goes to heaven to be with the Lord first after our death, but then the Lord has promised to raise us up in a new glorious body just like He raised Jesus from the dead (Rom 8:11; John 5:28-29).
As a believer in Christ Jesus, every one is promised a glorious event of Rapture in which "the Lord will descend from heaven ... and the dead in Christ will rise first ... and we who are alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thess 4:16-17). Though technically the word "Rapture" is not in the Bible, it comes from the Latin word rapare which means "seize", "snatch" or "take away." It means God will snatch His people the Church from earth to heaven before the Great Tribulation will take place. Even the word 'baptism' is not in the Bible, it is a latin word called 'baptizo', that doesn't prove that baptism is not in the Bible. Simply it means, in each language we identify it through a particular phonetics used for easy identification and study in details about the characteristics of the word and through it we see the details of faith and practice and hope.
Before the Great Tribulation will come on all the earth after the abomination of desolation which Jesus pointed to all believers to understand from the book of Daniel in order to be prepared for the Rapture which is going to come like a lightning on earth in a fraction of seconds (Matt 24:15-28), all believers must watch and pray so that they might be counted worthy to escape all the Tribulation that is coming upon the whole wide earth to test and seperate the rightous from the unrighteous so that God could destroy the sinners for their sins and the practice of it without restraint to make way for a new world of theocracy to come under God through Jesus Christ on earth for a thousand years time in which righteousness will dwell (Luke 21:34-36; Rev 3:10; 20:4).
The mistake the Church has made in the past is that it has not understood that it is called for a heavenly life and not a earthly life unlike the nation of Israel who are called for a earthly life under God. When Abraham was blessed by God with a sand blessing of a earthly life, it represented the nation of Israel that is going to blessed in a earthly way from that time onwards. When Abraham was blessed by God with a star blessings of a heavenly life, it represented the Church that is going to be blessed in a heavenly way to be settled in the "New Heaven and New Earth" from which it is going to provide a spiritual blessing to the whole world for a thousand year reign of Christ and thereafter in the eternity where they will have already eternally settled (Gen 13:16; 15:5; 2 Peter 3:13).
When God promised the nation of Israel, it was all physical blessing mainly (Deut 28:1-68). When God promised the Church, it was all spiritual blessing mainly (Eph 1:3).
So when we see what the Lord Jesus has spoken mainly to the Church after His resurrection, the one message right through out has been "repent" and "Overcome", I will "give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God" (Rev 2:7), I will "give you the crown of life" (Rev 2:10), I will "give some of the hidden manna to eat, give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it." (Rev 2:17), I will "give power over the nations" (Rev 2:26), I will "not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but will confess his name before My Father and before His angels." (Rev 3:5), I will "make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name." (Rev 3:12), and finally Jesus promised to the last of the seven churches saying I will " I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne." (Rev 3:21).
You can see that none of the promises to the Church has been a physical blessing from Jesus, but all of it is a spiritual blessing that they will inherit after they die. The category of spiritual blessing can be termed as honor and privilege (Rev 2:7), glory and kingship (Rev 2:10), honor, glory and special identity in heaven (Rev 2:17), rulership and power (Rev 2:26), honor and glory (Rev 3:5), special place in rulership, special privileged identity and access to glory (Rev 3:12) and finally rulership, glory of the Kingdom and power to rule in a special designed sovereign way of absolute power with Jesus (Rev 3:21).
We should be "rejoicing in hope" (Rom 12:12) for the glorious future life that God has designed for each of us believers in Christ Jesus, so that we could serve the Lord for eternity ahead to rule and to reign with Him and experience His power and glory both in the New Heaven and New Earth and also in this old earth for a thousand years time.
We who are Raptured before the Great Tribulation to be in the New Heaven and New Earth will have a special function of felicitation and a grand reception to receive the reward for all we have done for Jesus Christ our Lord thus far in our body whether good or bad or even useless things will be evaluated and given a grand royal prize of eternal value which will position us in a standing that will stay with us for the rest of our eternity (Rev 19:6-7; Heb 9:28; 2 Cor 5:10). The terror of the Lord in judging without partiality will take place in that judgment seat of Christ to give each believer in the Church the reward He serves for his work (2 Cor 5:11).
To the Church the glory and honor and power will be granted to it finally (Rev 19:8-9). Then once it is glorified (Rom 8:30), it becomes "the armies in heaven, clothed in the fine linen, white and clean" (Rev 19:14), from there it will follow Jesus Christ on white horses to rule the present earth for a thousand years spiritually. The Church will have the Kings under THE KING JESUS CHRIST, it will have the Lords under THE LORD JESUS CHRIST "to strike the nations", "rule them with a rod of iron" and to "tread the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of the Almighty God" (Rev 19:15). Truly our Lord God and we as the Church are WARRIOR's OF GOD in Him (Exo 15:3). We will exhibit it atleast for a thousand years time after which all rebellion will be subsided and subdued forever and ever. Amen (1 Cor 15:28). Surely we as the Church will come down with Jesus and rule this present earth from the New Heaven and New Earth for atleast a thousand years time, after which, we will continue to serve God in rulership over the nations in the New Heaven and New Earth itself for eternity (Rev 21:22-27; 7:9-17; 21:1-8).
We as the Church cannot even imagine all the great things God has in store for us who walk in faith as overcomers, but when time comes only we can experience it in reality for the Glory of God soon in the coming days (1 Cor 2:9). But God graciously and mercifully reveals to us all these things through His Spirit who has been given to us to build our faith and receive eternal rewards for it in heaven (1 Cor 2:10-14, 15). Glory to God!
Finally apostle Paul looked to the future spiritual reward and physically served God like Jesus and it was the fuel that drove him with passion to do the will of God and serve Him pleasingly in every area of his life and living (Heb 12:1-2; 2 Tim 4:7-8, 17-18). This only should motivate us to burn for Christ and serve Him loyally till the end of our lives, looking towards the future eternal joy in hope. Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord!
Much Blessings....
