Is Salvation an Event or a Process?

Is Salvation an Event or a Process?

Q: "Salvation is a Process..after the event when we recieve Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior...we need to Continue to work out our Salvation with Fear and trembling..Phil.2:12 and as we Remain in the Lord...and He remain in us..we will bear much Fruit..Fruit that will last..John 15:1-17. We are Saved to bear fruit..to ushers souls into the kingdom of God." So do we realy need to bear fruit in order to be Saved?

A: SALVATION is an EVENT, but FRUIT BEARING is a LIFE LONG PROCESS. Don't try to mix one with the other, when you do that you will become unsure of either.

When do we get saved? When we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord or we don't know until death do part us from this planet earth? If we are saved when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, then it is a definite event which has ushered us in to the kingdom of God
(Acts 26:18; 2 Cor 4:4; Eph 2:4-5; 5:8; 1 Thess 5:4). This is confirmed by Apostle Paul who said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31). The writer to the Hebrew speaks about "things that accompany salvation" (Heb 6:9), and in the same context he says that God does not forget to reward us for the works that we do for him. Thus these works are worked for which is what we call as the fruitul-work that comes out of salvation (Heb 6:10; Gal 5:22-23; Matt 7:15-23). Good works based on the good Character of Jesus can never be produced by an unsaved person who has not accepted Jesus as His Lord and Saviour (1 Cor 12:3; 1 John 4:2; Rom 8:9; Matt 7:18). But if there is no much good fruit, we will lose our great rewards and not our salvation which we have inherited freely. Fruit is a work that comes out of us through cooperating with the Holy Spirit, where as Salvation is not a work, but a pure grace received through the gift of faith which is not of ourselves but from God (Eph 2:8-9). In John 15:1-17, Jesus is not speaking about salvation but about the things that accompany salvation. Our works are burned like a branch is burned when we do not remain in Him, but we ourselves will be rescued out of fire because of what Jesus has achieved for all of us (1 Cor 3:14-15; 2 Cor 5:10-11). This is why he finished saying, "Without me you can DO NOTHING.". Salvation is not a doing, but a being in Christ without our works.

We are saved to bear fruit, but we are not saved by bearing fruit. In
Phil 2:12 the Apostle says that "we are to work out our own salvation with much fear and trembling", in context with the next verse Phil 2:13 which says, " for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." What does it mean? It means we are not saved from our Soulish nature by our doings, but by cooperating with the Holy Spirit who works through us and makes us bear much fruit. This salvation which Apostle Paul is referring is not the common salvation, but a progressive one that makes us live the abundant life that Jesus spoke about (John 10:10). Here we are saved from ourselves, but when we accept Jesus initially at the beginning of our lives, we are saved from sin which is a common salvation that brings a eternal union with God (Jude 3; 1 John 5:11-12). Salvation from sin gives us "ETERNAL LIFE" (John 3:16). Salvation from self gives us "ABUNDANT LIFE" (John 10:10; 12:24-26; Luke 9:23-24; Mat 10:38-39, 42). The "Salvation from sin" is an event, where as "Salvation from self" is a fruit bearing process. The "Salvation from sin" earns us the rights to become the children of God (John 1:12), "Salvation from self" earns us a eternal reward according to our fruit (Col 3:23-25). The "Salvation from sin" cannot be lost because we did not save ourselves but Jesus did save us eternally (Heb 5:9; Titus 3:5), "Salvation from self" we can lose if we do not cooperate with God who works with us and in us (Phil 2:13; Heb 10:26-27; 6:6; Rev 3:11). The "Salvation from sin" takes us in to a eternal PERMANENT UNION WITH GOD THAT JESUS MAINTAINS BASED ON WHAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE FOR US ETERNALLY (John 14:23; John 19:30; Col 3:3; John 10:28; 1 Cor 6:17, 19-20), "Salvation from self" takes us in to TEMPORAL FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD THAT WE NEED TO MAINTAIN BY CONFESSING OUR SINS TO GOD while on earth regularly (Luke 9:23-24; 1 John 1:3, 7, 7). I hope you got the point.

Blessings......
