Here is the Parable:
"26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” (Mark 4:26-29).
Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven means the same, because when compared to earthly kingdoms of the world, heaven where God resides has one and only Kingdom under Him. There in the highest heaven, God's Kingdom reigns and His will is being done perfectly (Matt 6:10). Here on earth, as Satan remains "the prince of the power of air" and the "ruler of this [present] world" (Eph 2:2; John 12:31), he does his own will on earth by maligning God in the mind of people to do his will through his lies (John 8:44).
So when a man which is Jesus Christ or his brethren within the Church (Heb 2:10-11), start to sow the seed of the Word of God in the ground of the hearts of people who are unsaved in the world or in another sense in the heart of the saved of the Church too to edify them (Luke 8:11), we see an obedient servant or ambassador of His do this in response to command of Jesus Christ the captain of their salvation (2 Cor 5:20; Matt 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18, 20; Luke 24:45-49; John 20:21-23; 21:15-17).
We see that if we obey the Great Commission given to the Church which is explained in this way, "The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground", in other words, when we preach and teach the Word of God systematically, the very power and reign of the Kingdom of God gets released and starts spreading through this simple activity of preaching and teaching the Word of God even as it is sown in to the heart of the hearers (1 Cor 1:18, 21, 24-25).
As the Parable continues like this saying, "And should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how."
Every man's activity is to sleep by night and rise by day to do his own chores and then the professional work of watering the field. And if it is a area where river water flows or rainy season continues to out-pour until the time of harvest, well and good...slowly the seed will start to sprout and grow supernaturally. No one needs to do anymore than this for some time. The sower cannot understand all the processes of how biologically the seed has sprouted, but God since the creation of all things, He "has made herbs that yield seed according to its kind and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind" (Gen 1:12). In other words, the power of multiplication is part of the Kingdom power that is set at loose supernaturally since creation through the seed of His Word and the seed of the nature too. As the Word of God is sown, the sower may not be able to understand spiritually how it works but then it falls in to the heart of people, and as God caters the souls by pouring out His supernatural rain on it and rivers of blessing upon it, suddenly the soul gets converted by the Power of God. The needy soul gets overflowing blessing of more than enough bread for the soul when a preacher preaches the Word or a teacher of the Word teaches the Word of God. Hallelujah!
The Kingdom citizens of heaven start getting multiplied on earth as the spiritual work keeps increasingly become fruitful, and the seed get multiplied so much for harvest to take place soon. As Paul one of the greatest missionary of all time said, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase." (1 Cor 3:6). Thus if we ever want to boast about our spiritual achievement, we should be only boasting about the Lord and the name of the Lord only as we know within us that we have just sowed the Word of God and watered through Prayer, but it is God who gave the increase of blessing back to us. As it is in the natural life and farming, so it is also in the spiritual life and harvesting of souls (Matt 9:37-38; 1 Cor 15:46). Praise the Lord!

When the Word of God is sown in to the heart of the human hearers, like in the natural, first they get saved as the children of God which is the blade, then they start to grow and become young and strong spiritually as the head of the grain, and finally they become fathers in faith spiritually with the full grain in the head (1 John 2:12-14). Like the earth yields crops by itself, the Kingdom of God operates on earth by itself without any human help, all supernatural work are done by God through angels and the Holy Spirit.
God the Father has been working since the beginning of Creation ever since the fall of humans in to sin (John 5:17), what has he been doing? He has been working for the redemption of all humans, so that they could enjoy the eternal life that He has been providing for his children all the time, grace upon grace through Jesus Christ (1 Tim 6:17-19; John 1:17, 16). There is a invisible increase of the Kingdom of God spiritually since the day of Creation as also in the natural that has taken place under His command structure. We cannot see and know how it has happened fully, but we can know in truth that it has all happened for the Glory of God and is happening in our present time too, thank God and praise God that we are a part of His plan and purpose of the increase of His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven (Matt 6:9-13).
If only we could sow the seed of the Word of God in our heart constantly, in a disciplined way, day in and day out to water it through prayer and meditation of it in fellowship with God, believe me, the seeds of God's power and blessing will continue to increase in our lives till the Kingdom reign starts to spread around us in our family, village, town, city, nation and nations around the world. What a eternal blessing it is to reign now by the Kingdom power of the world to come! Hallelujah!
"But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."
When the grain or fruit ripens, God puts the sickle, to harvest from us so that He could keep it all in the records of heaven to give back to us the benevolence of His reward because of the pleasure we have given to Him through our harvest in our lives (Rev 22:12; Heb 6:10-12).
To the one who could see the spiritual harvest with the eyes of their heart and find that "the harvest truly is plentiful, but the larbourers are few", and then "prays [to] the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers in to His harvest" will in turn find himself get enrolled as the labourer in His harvest to do mighty things supernaturally and get promoted to find the Kingdom of God spread through him and his team of labourers in to all the world in his time and generation for the Glory of God (Matt 9:37-38)! Hallelujah!
You need not know all the details of how God works behind the scene supernaturally through the simple sharing of His Word and your testimony regarding it (1 Cor 1:21), which then causes a mighty miracle of soul conversion take place to extend the Kingdom of God supernaturally (Psa 19:7; Rom 10:14-18). All your need is to have simple faith in God and His Word, trusting God you need to step out with Him, so that He could work supernaturally along with you in signs, wonders and miracles for the extension of His Kingdom and the revealing of His Glory in all the earth (Mark 16:15-20). Praise the Lord!
The real harvest is the "end of the age", with the angels used by God as reapers of the soul (Matt 13:39-41), in which they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine in their glorious bodies as the sun in the Kingdom of their Heavenly Father because by that time they would have been resurrected for the Glory of God to live eternally with Him and reign with Him!
Yet we see the first harvesters are not the angels, but we the children of God who has been given the privilege to harvest souls in to the Kingdom of God as we have discussed before. Every soul that hears the Word of God through us, gets in to the Kingdom reign of God along with us. Every one that does the Word of God in their own lives, collects eternal treasures in heaven for the Glory of God along with us (James 5:7-12). Glory to God!
So what are you waiting for friends and saints of the Most High God, ...come on in and reign in the Kingdom of God through sharing His Word now and forever more. Surely there is a invisible increase of His Kingdom day by day, more and more even as you keep proclaiming the Word of God in more and more territories that you walk with your feet or through internet highway for His Glory. You might not even understand how this increase happens, you need not bother or worry, it is God who is working on your behalf to bring Glory to His own name along with you. Your reward is not just in this world, but it is waiting for you truly out of this world to stay with you forever and ever eternally in glory (Mark 10:30)! Amen!
