A: We are not supposed to see the world and be conformed to it. But we should see and meditate on the word and be transformed to live a heavenly life on earth. You see, because of the hardness of the heart of the people of Israel, Jesus was telling that Moses permitted divorce according to the law which was weak because it never gave people the power to overcome their problems. But God never intended the law to guide His children but wanted them to experience the grace of His power to overcome evil tendencies from the beginning of time when He created Adam and Eve (Please read Matt 19:8). In other words God did not instruct Adam to divorce Eve if he could not get along well with her. All cannot receive the perfect blessings of God except those who do the perfect will of God. Why not us in the perfect will of God? It is a challenge to be faced rather than to be seen as a compromise or comparison.
Even the disciples were not born with the Spirit during this time, so they were not able to understand this teaching of Jesus (John 3:6-8; 20:21-23). But you do not see in Peter's epistles such a question again. Why? Because he was born again and the Spirit of God taught Him, gave understanding to his finite mind (John 14:26; 16:13; 1 John 2:27). Now we have no excuse because we are all born again and the Spirit of God is teaching all of us constantly as we seek the Lord and obey His commandments. That passage "Not all men can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given." (Matt 19:11) is the answer Jesus has given to the previous frustrated conclusive answer from His disciples who said "it is better not to marry", as Jesus had previously said that divorce except for infidelity is committing adultery and it is like making his wife also to do so. He compares a impossible situation of men and equates it to eunuchs who can receive a gift of God and as a result can stay in celibacy through the power of God, this shows that men can live with out divorcing-adultery if they really seek the gift of God's grace to build up a family to glorify God in their family lives. The word of God should never be taken out of context. Blessings......
