Question: Does the Rapture and the Second Coming of Jesus will work the same or differently? Will the dead in Christ rise up first and those who are alive will get caught up along with them in the air, both at the time of the Rapture and the Second Coming? Do you think that apostle Paul speaks about two different events, one in 1 Thess 4:13-18 and the other in 1 Cor 15:51-58? Or Paul speaks about the same event in both the places. What is your take on it?
Answer: Greetings in the holy and mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In both the verses of 1 Thess 4:13-18 and the other in 1 Cor 15:51-58, Paul speaks about a standard operating procedure that will take place in the Rapture and about both in the next place of 1 Cor 15:52, that is, "16...the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." (1 Thess 4:16-17) and "51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1 Cor 15:51-52).
Both of the above verses speak about the same as well as two different things, 1 Thess 4:13-18 speaks about the Rapture of the Church, this we all know as this is the first time and place God had revealed about the Rapture of the Church through Paul the apostle. But the passages in 1 Cor 15:51-58 speaks about the Rapture in the verse 1 Cor 15:51 and then continues to speak about the next event in succession which is the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in 1 Cor 15:52. You may ask the question, how do you know for sure that Paul is shifting gears to suddenly speak about the next event in God's calendar which is the Second Coming of Christ immediately after speaking about the event of Rapture taking place in 1 Cor 15:51?
Here is the proof, "We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed" (1 Cor 15:51), the preceding verse explains that not all will die, but instead we all, which includes the dead and the living at the time of the Rapture shall all be changed.
The same verse continues in the next...revealing that "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed" (1 Cor 15:52). Here is the catch, those who are left behind were included in the final lukewarm Church of Laodiceans where Jesus is standing outside the Church because it is already raptured, and thus He knocks at the door of the heart of the left behind believers because they disobeyed his command to, 'watch and pray!'. These were promised that if they overcome the lure of the one world government by recognizing the love, rebuke and chastening of the Lord Jesus to even die as a martyr, they were promised a wild card resurrection for living as priest in His earthly temple, through which they will enter the earthly throne of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. If they [(i.e.) the tribulation saints] overcome just as Jesus overcame the world through His death and sat down in the heavenly throne of the Father in heaven nearly 2000 years ago itself, they too will reign over the whole world just as Jesus our Christ spiritually rules the world until now (Rev 2:14-22; Isa 9:6; Dan 2:44; Zec 14:9; Rom 8:34; Rev 20:4-6).
As we know that the last trumpet will be the seventh trumpet, that will continue to sound till the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Church to the earth to establish His throne on the earth (Rev 11:15-19). This is why, the Bible calls and describes this final trumpet as "in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel" (Rev 10:7) which means, the sound of the 7th trumpet blown by two prophets will continue to sound for many days even after they die and rise up in a special resurrection to be taken up to heaven before the whole world, who will see it and then fear God for what has taken place before them, that is, the 7th trumpet will sound until the times of restoration of all things takes place by Jesus and His Church on earth (Rev 10:7; Acts 3:21). Hallelujah!
The final resurrection will be the first resurrection for all the martyrs who will all be changed right in to the millennial rule of Jesus Christ and the Church (Rev 20:6), as apostle Paul describes saying, "52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1 Cor 15:52).
In this resurrection, all the martyrs for Jesus and the Word of God from Abel to the last one will rise up and live for a thousand years time in their resurrected supernatural bodies to be priests of God in the earthly temple to rule the earth through their intercession for a thousand years time (Psa 72:15; Matt 23:35, 38-39; Rev 6:9-11; 20:4-6; 11:17-18, 15-16).
