Overcoming the Storms of Life

Storms Makes Us When We Dare to Speak Against It

By Abraham Israel

Storms in life are something nobody would happily go through until they begin to understand that God allows it for a reason beyond our temporal comfort to prepare us for eternal reward. We cannot avoid the storms that comes in to our life because we are not omnipotent like God to stop before it comes to us. But when we realize that the storms of life and the trials that comes to us are custom designed by God and tailored to prepare us to be empowered with much patience which makes us perfect and complete spiritually, we will start to count all of our trials as an opportunity for eternal gain with an earthly bonus of blessedness that comes at the end of our trials as a gift of satisfaction for now and a guarantee of our future reward from God (James 1:2-4; 5:10-11).

Storms are opportunities given to us by God to prove our faith that our God is bigger than the storms we face. One thing we must realize is this, storms are temporary but the spiritual blessed inheritance we gain through it are eternal in nature. When we go through trails humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God, God will have His hand on the spiritual thermostat to allow only the intensity of hardship which we will be able to handle in our lives. He has promised not to allow us to be tempted through the storms of life beyond our ability (1 Cor 10:13). God always keeps us safe through the storm, whether we fail to understand it or stand in faith to declare it with a victorious cry (2 Tim 2:13). When we go through the storms of life with much fretting, fuming, grumpiness and grouchy demeanor with much unbelief, we will lose what we could have gained spiritually for eternity. When we face the storms with a positive attitude, knowing that it is an opportunity to prove that our God is bigger than our storms, immediately the joy of the Lord will become our strength to face all of it with much grit.

When the devil asks the Lord to sift you like wheat as he did to Peter the Apostle (Luke 22:31), if you are not ready for it, the Lord will say, "No Satan, you have no permission to touch my child for now." But when our Heavenly Father knows that you have grown to a level where you have the ability to face it, He will say to Satan, "Have you not seen my servant walk perfectly before me, now you go and tempt if you want." This is the reason we need not get too pre-occupied with what the devil is trying to do in our lives, all we need to do is to stay focused on the Lord always and be thankful, praising and reverently worship Him. The one thing that is needed to qualify us to face all the storms of life is to stay close to Jesus like all the men and women of God did in the past. When our eyes are upon Jesus, we will have faith to walk on the water like Peter the Apostle did, but he began to sink in to the stormy sea once he took His focus away from Jesus and set his eyes towards the stormy waves that were coming towards him (Matt 14:28-30). By taking our focus away from Jesus we will allow fear to reign in us and faith to get depleted through doubt (Matt 14:31). Keep your eyes on Jesus to face the storm and come of it unscathed and victorious.

Some times God wants us to pray to Him asking for protection from evil when we do not have the ability and faith to face temptation, trials and storms of life that comes our way. Like a dad loves to protect his child at the time of danger, God our Heavenly Father would love to rescue us from such dangerous times that have the potential to kill and destroy us (Matt 6:13; Psa 50:15; 68:20). Other times when He knows that we have the ability of humble dependence on God's power to defend ourselves from the Satan's snare of evil, temptation, trials and storms that he brings, God expects us to speak against the storms that come our way. When Jesus saw the storm trying to sink their boat in to the sea, he simply rebuked it and it became calm (Matt 8:26).

Here is the greatest secret of faith that Jesus shared to all of us I believe, "21 ...“Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”" (Matt 21:21-22). In other words, Jesus is teaching us to pray to God first, asking Him to fill us with His faith and then once our hearts are filled with this God-kind of faith, Jesus is encouraging us to speak without doubt against the storms of life, mountains of problems and the words of discouragement that swells up from our soulish heart during the trials that has the potential to weigh our heart down in depression. Once this is done, a supernatural hosts of God will start to intervene on behalf of our anointed command that have come through our mouth and will bring a heavenly rest to the earthly chaos.

Are you ready? You are asking me for what, not to speak to God how big your storm is but to speak to your storm how big your God is. You have a seed potential of faith that can do things much greater than what you can ever imagine with you mind, if you will only dare to speak it towards the storms and mountains that comes and tries to block your spiritual visibility. God is not limited by any factor of inability on His side but is limited only by how big you think He can achieve and do on behalf of you.

Speak to your storms with faith! All things are possible when you and God are in partnership!

Now Command the Storms and Mountains that are standing against you saying, "In JESUS name I command all the storms of life to stop and become calm in all areas of my life."

Now pray to the Lord saying, "Thank you Lord for helping me to speak with faith and perpetually increase in this kind of divine faith so that I will be able to glorify you and work for you in a powerful way. I praise you for who you are, what you have done and how you are working together all the good and the bad in my life to bring out a good and a expected end which you have pre-planned and destined it for your GLORY!. Bless you for all the things you have done to me and only you are worthy of all my honor! I choose to live by faith for your glory. Amen!"

“When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation [in God].” - Proverbs 10:25 (NLT)

"Remember the sufferings of Christ, the storms that were weathered... the crown that came from those sufferings which gave new radiance to the faith... All saints give testimony to the truth that without real effort, no one ever wins the crown." — Thomas Becket
