Abraham had the steps of faith (Rom 4:12).
The promise, that Abraham would be the heir to the world was through the righteousness of faith (Romans 4:13). God gave to Abraham a right standing with Himself and extended His hand of friendship because of Abraham’s faith.
By faith according to His grace, God planned that the promise might be made sure and certain to all the seed of the faith of Abraham (v16). When nothing tangible happened “in hope believed”. So that he became the father of many nations (v18).
When you are living in a strong present tense faith, your capacity to focus on future tense hope will make you live with greater confidence in the present time.
Hope will make you rejoice in the present time. Hope is directly connected in knowing more and more clearly the ways of God ahead and it will bring the glory of God upon you (Romans 5:2; Ps 103:7). It will build your Character into the mould of His character which will position you to see and know His Love in a supernatural way (Romans 5:3-5; Psalm 143:8).
Not being weak in faith he did not see the circumstances [his body v19] that he was going through.
He did not waver [through unbelief] at the promise of God, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God (v20).
He was fully convinced [to feel certain that something is true] (v21), that God who promised it able to perform it.
He who sows to his flesh will reap corruption [dishonest, illegal or immoral behavior especially from someone with power], but he who sows to the Spirit, will of the Spirit reap everlasting [unchangeable heaven’s] life (Galatians 6:8).
Let us not grow weary while doing good for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (Rom 6:9).
This is what Abraham did in his life, year after year he sowed to the Spirit until the season came and he started reaping the blessings that God had promised Abraham. This is the secret of the household of faith.
