Revelation Chapter 12 stars reveal great mystery hidden in other ages, that is, revealed as the great sign in the following verse, "Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars." (Revelation 12:1).
First of all, this sign in heaven is a great sign, because the will of God for the people of God for all ages is revealed through it. Here the woman is the people of God and people of faith, who were the reason for all other creation of God. Heaven is God's throne, and earth is His foot stool, which means whatever inbetween like angels were made for God to sit comfortably upon His throne in heaven by keeping his foot comfortably on earth on his much desired temple of human body whom he wanted to have intimacy with as His dear Children (Isa 66:1). Therefore it has been God's perfect will for all humans to get clothed upon by God Himself who is the sun, the source power, with angels who are the reflective power under their feet, which is to make them a servant of those who inherit salvation as God's dear child (Psa 84:11; Isa 61:10; 60:1, 2, 3; Heb 1:14; Rev 22:8-9; Rom 16:20).
The Lord's will for the people of God was to have on her head a garland of twelve stars, which are the twelve tribes of Israel in the Old Testament period and the twelve apostles of the Church in the New Testament time adding upto 24 elders overall (Rev 4:4; 7:4; 14:3, 4, 5; 21:12, 14). This clearly establishes the truth that the Kingdom Presence of God in the OT was with Israel, and once they rejected Jesus the Messiah, the same Kingdom Presence of God was taken from the nation of Israel and has been given to a new nation of nations, that is, the Church for the past two thousand years time (Matt 21:43-44).
The fall of one third of all the angels with the dragon Satan is another sign that is a question asked by God to humans of every generation about 7 world governments, and the power of 10 kings divided in to 10 segments from the whole world, and seven perfect diadems of headband worth-ship for worship, which only belongs to the LORD and GOD has been taken by the Satan and his angels to receive it unlawfully and illegally from humans through fear, which was actually given to the angels by God to direct humans to take the right choice and express it before God (Rev 22:8-9; Job 1:7; 2:2; Zec 3:1). By choosing God by faith rather than sight through the man child Jesus Christ (John 3:16; 2 Cor 5:7), every one will be given the rights to flee in to the wilderness of intimacy with God and thus live with God even after their physical life on earth gets over and done, where a new life starts in heaven with God (Rev 12:2, 3-6).
God's orginal intention of His will is the great sign and Satan's fall is the alternative sign for all humans born on earth to look to, and take their own good choice to follow God to become His children and live their lives for His pleasure because He is their Creator who has created them for His very own purpose to be fulfilled (Jer 17:7), or take their own choice and live for themselves according to the dictates of their own heart (Jer 17:9-10; Eccl 9:3). In the case of choosing their own way, people choose religion to appease their conscience which cries out for the living God (Psa 131:2). But in fact, Satan and his minions are clever enough to satisfy humans with religion temporarily while they live on earth, but the eternal cry within their heart remains for the living God which cannot be permanently replaced as God has put a spirit within humans to seek God through it (Eccl 3:11). In fact, those who are unsaved and follow the dictates of their own heart, Satan and his demons are the ones who become the string puller of their lives to keep them away from God till they die so that they might go to hell fire where God will not be felt at all in His goodness. These unsaved humans are operated by the Satanic kingdom to keep them in darkness spiritually as they remain unsaved humans to continue like that at their demonic will, whims and fancies (Eph 2:2; John 8:44). These Satanic impostors deceive the whole world and continue to keep them in sinful darkness of their heart through their lies.
The Law of first occurrence and also the last occurrence has so much information to tell and teach about any subject that is in the Bible always. As in the Book of Genesis which is the first Book of the Bible and the book of beginning, so also the last Book of the Bible which is Revelation is the Book of the end of all things. When we see the first occurrence in both these Book of the Bible, the word 'sign' appears to teach us a important thing, sun, moon and stars are "for signs and seasons" "for days and years", which means God is conveying to humans that sun, moon and stars in the sky has more in-depth spiritual meanings of being a sign than just for humans to see and notice the time, seasons, days and years. We know that the Greater light of the sun is the source light of God Himself, and the lesser light of the moon a reflective power of the Satan to rule the night of the fallen world of sin (Gen 1:16, 17-18; Ezek 28:1-10; Isa 14:9-11, 12). Indeed, God is the one who made the "stars" of angels in different glories between the time of beginning and the time of the end to serve God as His servants, of which the ultimate is to serve humans made in the image of God for which the angels rebelled and fell in to sin in the beginning of time at the time of the creation of all things in heaven and earth (1 Cor 15:41; Job 38:6-7; 1:6; 2:1; Gen 1:1-2; Job 38:33, 6-7; Eccl 3;11; Isa 45:18-19, 21-22).
For the first time in the Bible the word "signs" appears in Genesis 1:14, first time the word "sign" appears in the Book of Revelation 12:1, even though it is described that the whole Book of Revelation is Signified in its content and given to John who was one of the 12 apostles of the Lamb (Rev 1:1). Both reference stars, as signs which is plural in Genesis signifying the angels already at work for God (Psa 103:20, 21; 104:4; Psa 34:7), and in Revelation as 'sign' teaching us that it is the one plan of God that contains a lot of deeper insights that reveal the plans and purposes of God through it. Thus making us understand that in Genesis the physical aspect of stars as signs were speaking about angels as the servants of God. But in the Book of Revelation, the spiritual aspect of it is the 12 tribes and its individual leaders of it in the nation of Israel in the Old Testament and 12 apostles of the Church in the New Testament, together appearing as one before the throne of God as 24 elders in the highest heaven worshiping him for which God has prepared them in his eternal plans and purposes (Rev 21:12, 14; 4:10). Hallelujah!
God showed the stars in the sky to Abraham and conveyed the spiritual message of how he is going to have so many spiritual sons like the stars in the sky through His descendant Jesus Christ who will build the Church on earth (Gen 15:5; Gal 3:16). In other words, like the innumerable angels of heaven that are working as servants of God in heaven, God will raise up innumerable sons of Abraham through Jesus Christ to serve Him in the new heaven and new earth for His Glory! Exactly for the reason Satan fell in to sin of pride without humility was because he did not want to serve humans, for that same reason Christ humbled himself and showed to humans and angels alike how he not only served humans as God's servant (1 Pet 1:12), but also loved and died for them so that they all, that is, the unfallen angels in heavens who serve God could learn to serve redeemed humans in the new heavens and new earth (Heb 2:16; Rev 21:26; 22:8-9). That scarlet thread that which was hidden and seemed lost in the Book of the Beginning in Genesis, is made complete in the Book of Revelation where the scarlet thread is not only found, but reveals the Glory of God through Jesus Christ for eternity ahead!
