If we ask, 'Is God the one who is allowing these devisl to come in to our life to torment us in such a way? Is God the one who is sending these devils?'
In one way, we are allowing the devil a foothold by our unforgiveness. But in another way, yes not only God is allowing the devils to torment us when we are living in unforgiveness, but also He is the one who is sending these devils so that we might choose to let go of other's faults as He has always done freely towards us (Matt 18:32-35). The Lord has clearly said that when we were His enemies living in sin, God made Christ to become our sin's penalty and thus through His unconditional love chose to forgive all our past, present and future sin of our lives once and for all time when we accepted Jesus to be our Lord and Saviour (Rom 5:8; Eph 4:32; Heb 10:10, 12, 14; Rom 10:9-10). As we have now become the children of God through believing in Jesus (John 1:12; 1 John 3:2), our Father God has the rights to train us to grow in to the likeness of His very own character. So because God has forgiven us unconditionally even when we were enemies because of living under the influence of our sin nature, God expects us to do the same by His help.
It is not easy to forgive, it is impossible until God makes it possible. All we need to do is to take a wise choice to let go of people's debt of wrongs done against us and instead let in the love of God surge through us through allowing the Holy Spirit to control our thoughts, actions and desires. Always understand that giving up other's mistake done against us whether intentionally or unintentionally doesn't mean we are weak, it means that we are strong enough to let go of all spiritual garbage of unforgiveness by God's grace.
Forgiveness brings freedom, the freedom to let go of our anger which affects ourselves more than anyone, the freedom from being controlled by our past, the freedom to live outside of the emotional ties to the offender, the freedom from the continual inner conflict of bitterness and hate, the freedom to become whole and enjoy the fullness of life and finally the freedom to love the offender unconditionally with God's love and wish them a blessing inspite of facing malice and evil from them.
Sometimes in our Christian life, we fail in the very basic thing of forgiving others. But we must look only to the example of our God who has forgiven us in Christ Jesus unconditionally and no one else who are just a pale reflection of the perfection of God. First of all if are we thankful to God for our salvation, we will be able to easily forgive others of their tresspass done against us. I would love to tell about this story to really show how we act many times when we are commanded by God to forgive others.
There were two sons named Jim and Jerry in a godly family. But many times they would fight against each other. Then they would come together by forgiving each other of their mistakes as their mom would intervene to bring peace within the family.
One day in the evening time the elder one Jim beat Jerry nicely, then suddenly their mom came to that place unexpectedly. The moment Jim saw his mom, he started to cry and act as though his younger brother Jerry beat him. Mom saw it and mistakenly rebuked the younger boy and he was very much upset about it.
Every day during the family prayer usually they would all get reconciled for whatever mistake they would have done against each other before going to bed. That night as usual they were reading the portion of daily bread and the Scripture reading before going to bed. Mom read the portion of Scripture in which it said, "26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil." (Eph 4:26-27). The angry little Jerry was so upset about his elder brother Jim that he did not want to let go of his anger that day. So the younger boy exclaimed in joy, "Mommy, you are right!"
When his mom asked, "What is right?"
Little Jerry said, "I mean, the Bible correctly says that we can be angry and not sin when we do not fail to forgive a person before the sun sets. Now that the sun has already set, I have one more day to forgive Jim for his mistake done against me."
You might laugh if you have got it. Hmmm...some of us try to act like this little boy many times when we are emotionally very upset of what someone has done again us unjustly.
Forgiveness has nothing to do with our emotion, but it is everything to do with our choice to let go. When we let go of men's tresspass against us in obedience to God who has said to forgive all our offenders inspite of their lack of change in attitude for what they have done (Matt 6:14), God will be very pleased to forgive our failings and fill our heart with His love and release His peaceful, joyful and righteous blessing upon us continually (Matt 6:15; Rom 14:17).
Do you want to experience heaven on earth, then learn to do the spiritual basics of forgiving others rightly and promptly all the time. If you forgive others, you are a blessed person!
Be blessed and be a BLESSING!
Pray this prayer with me saints : Dear Father God, Thank you for forgiving all my past, present and future sins in Christ Jesus and making me your very embodiment of righteousness on earth (Col 3:13; 2 Cor 5:21). You have told me to do this inorder to teach me to grown in your character and so please help me to forgive people whenever I find it hard to do so.
