Do You See Any Possible Danger In Emphasizing Eternal Security Of Salvation?
Question : Do you see any possible danger in emphasizing that it is impossible for a believer to lose his or her salvation? Of course, we could debate whether the Bible teaches this at all, but simply as a matter of experience, many of us have encountered very lost people — drunkards, fornicators, without the slightest interest in God (see 1 Cor. 6:9-10) — who have then assured us that they were saved because it was impossible for them to lose their salvation. So on a practical level, do you feel it's important to add any scriptural caveats to your teaching of eternal security and, if so, how can you do this without putting an emphasis on "performance"?
Again, in posting these questions, I am not trying to be contentious, nor have I worded them so as to set some kind of trap. I am genuinely asking for honest responses from you and those who embrace the modern grace message for the sake of clarity and understanding and, where needed, self-correction.

I do not see any possible danger in emphasizing that it is impossible for a believer to lose his or her salvation because that is the truth of God's word that is really emphasized in the Bible. In my personal walk with God, I never have found liberty in the Spirit to be what I am created to be, than when I really understood the way God has saved me once and for all time forgiving my past, present and future sins in Christ Jesus and giving me freedom enough to make the right choices by the power of the Holy Spirit who has been given to me as a helper to help me overcome all challenges of sin, sickness and death (Heb 10:12-13, 14-15, 16-17, 18).
I have come to realize the privilege of knowing what it is to live with eternal salvation. I really thank God and will praise Him as long as I live in this part of the universe for giving to me such a heavenly wonderful privilege as this to speak about the free and eternal gift of salvation!
Because Jesus has died for me, a change in how God views me as new creation in Him, and how he could in His sight see the old creation in me to be gone for ever is nothing short of a miracle to me, it shows that God in His omniscience knows the end from the beginning and nothing surprises Him and that includes not even the sin nature within us which acts as a rebellious enemy against Him until we all will die one day and go one to be with Him forever (Acts 15:18; 2 Cor 5:17; Isa 46:10; Rom 5:8). Glory to God! According to God, the old nature of our forefather Adam is gone to be expelled, the new nature of God has come to reign in us! (2 Cor. 5:17).
People sometimes put this truth out down expressing in ways like, “Hey, say a prayer, you’re saved, and live the way you want. Don’t worry, God has forgiven you,” I mean in a sarcastic way. What they do not realize when saying like this is, every person has the right to say a prayer like this out of one's own free will, and yet should realize that such prayer will only be effective for people who say it from the heart and not just from their lips when their heart is far away from God (Matt 15:8; Isa 29:13; Mark 7:6). In other words, every word that comes out of our lips will not reach God, unless it comes from our heart. The words of our mouth will travel billions and trillions of miles and will reach the throne of God only when it comes out of our heart (Rom 10:9-10). Whenever a unbeliever chooses to believe in his heart and confess with his lips Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he will be saved without doubt (Rom 8:9; 1 Cor 12:3). But when a believer chooses to live the way he wants after that, he will suffer loss in this life and in the life to come, yet he himself will be saved as through the fire of suffering that he will face through God's chastisement which may sometimes be as severe as physical death when someone is in unrepentant stubborn rebellion because of living in the flesh so that we might not be condemned with the world (1 Cor 3:15-16; Heb 12:6; 1 Pet 4:12; 1 Cor 11:31, 30, 32; Pro 1:7-8, 32-33; Jer 17:5).
When a believer is acting like a unbeliever, like as — drunkards, fornicators, without the slightest interest in God (1 Cor 6:9-10), the first thing for him to be reminded is that he was like that old man which he is acting out, but now he is washed, sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor 6:11). When a person illegally have occupied a another person's property to encroach it for himself, the first thing that the owner needs to know to again gain back his property is to know that the property belongs to him, and then with all authority he can command the encroaching person to run away from his property. Every believer must look at his own sin that has enslaved him and say that it is already defeated by Jesus two thousand years ago on the Cross of Calvary (Col 2:15), and that he is already forgiven of it all by God (Col 2:13-14), that is why every believer can choose to stay away from sin and claim for his reward now in this life and also in the life to come (Jam 1:2, 4, 12). If any believer does not understand that all the sins are already defeated by Jesus and perfectly forgiven by Jesus, they cannot experience victory over sin in their personal lives. This is what Paul does in the words that you have shown in 1 Cor 6:9-10, he has shows there the difference between the life of a believer and a unbeliever, and have conveyed the message that a unbeliever who is involved in such sins does not have any power over it because of living in the kingdom of darkness, but a believer who is involved in such a sin can choose to say no because in Christ Jesus he does have power to say no any time over it and experience the victorious life of a over-comer in faith and also receive God's reward.
We need not bother about a unbeliever saying that he is saved and cannot lose his salvation, even if he says that, he is deceiving himself (1 John 1:8, 10). Every one who practices sin is a slave of sin, but those who are set free from sin by knowing the truth of the forgiveness of all sins through the Son of God Jesus Christ is already free from all the penalty of sins and its power over them, and even has authority over even the presence of sin living within them in Christ Jesus (John 8:34, 32, 36). Just because some counterfeit currency are at the prowl, it doesn't mean that the original should be stopped from printing or circulation. The only thing that is needed is the need to check the notes and dispose or reject the counterfeit, when we allow it in to our lives. The same goes with the unbeliever, just because a unbeliever comes religiously to the Church, and without a change continues in his sinful habits without any slightest remorse or sorrow to repent of it (2 Cor 7:9, 10), but have come to intellectually grasp the doctrine of "eternal salvation" to deceitfully misuse it and have made the Word of God to no effect (Heb 5:9; Mark 7:13), doesn't mean he is saved. Actually if it is a good Church in which he is staying, he will feel fearful to openly practice sin because of the fear of excommunication (Matt 18:15-20). Any doctrine handed down from the previous generation in the Church whether it is the doctrine of "eternal salvation", or any other thing, without a person experiencing salvation, all the intellectual knowledge and boasting about knowing a doctrine becomes a tradition of men that really will have no effect on that person's spiritual life. Why bother about counterfeit, when the original saved person benefits hugely by the liberty that comes in knowing and living the doctrine of "eternal salvation".
The doctrine of Eternal Salvation is Eternal Security. To define simply, Eternal security is the teaching that a Christian cannot lose his salvation because he is "eternally secure" in the perfectly finished work of Christ. In other words, once a person is saved, he cannot lose his salvation. There needs to be no caveats needed because all the promises of God are individually in itself are yes and amen, and the sealing of the Holy Spirit within the hearts of every believer given by God is the guarantee for its authenticity, and God will establish all those ministers and hearers of the doctrine of eternal security of salvation to be endowed spiritually with the blessings of edification that comes out of the anointing of God's Spirit if they will believe God's promises to stand in faith (2 Cor 1:20, 21, 22; 1 Tim 4:15-16; Eph 1:3; 2 Tim 3:16-17).
Every individual promise of God can stand on its own and does not need support from any other Scripture to add power to it:
John 10:27-29 - "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” In this above verse we see that once Jesus gives eternal life to us, we who received it shall never ever perish. Evil sin or death or demons, shall never ever be able to snatch out of Jesus' hand or our Father's hand.
John 6:37 - "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." If we have come to accept Jesus, it is the Father God who has given us to Jesus supernaturally to become saved. Jesus has promised never to unsave and throw away any saved person for any reason of sin or rebellion, according to Jesus never will one of His sheep in His fold of the Church will ever be thrown out, instead only the unsaved will be thrown and cast out in to outer darkness if they continue to live in rebellion against God till they die.
John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." According to this verse we see that not one of the person who believes in Jesus the only begotten Son in all the world of humanity will ever perish but will have everlasting life because God loved them even before they started loving Him. Jesus died so that no one need be destroyed by sin; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and everlasting life. Ever-lasting life by its name itself means that it will last forever. Hallelujah!
John 10:28 - "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand." In the above verse we see that if Jesus gives any human eternal life, that believer shall never perish, neither shall any external human force of wrong doctrine or persecution can force out of them the eternal life that Jesus has already given them within for eternity ahead because Jesus in His Divine Sovereign authority has promised it and He will never ever break it.
John 5:24 - "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." Here in the above verse we see Jesus reassuring emphatically that anyone who listens to His message of the good news of forgiveness of sins and believes in God who sent Him has eternal life, and they will never be damned for their sins, because they have already passed out of death into life. We also see that believing saves a human and qualifies him to receive everlasting life.
Romans 11:29 - "For the gifts and calling of God [are] without repentance." Here in this verse we see that God does not give and take away any gift that He gives, that includes salvation which He gives for eternity. Once saved is definitely always saved! Praise the Lord!
2 Corinthians 1:22 - "Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." We see in this verse apostle Paul saying, God seals us who are the believers when we were saved by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and along with that He has given us all a little portion of the Spirit in our heart as a guarantee that we are saved for eternity ahead. No where in the Bible, the apostles ever speak of unsealing of the Spirit of God in any circumstances possible. Is eternal security true, yes it is as the Spirit is the guarantee of it in us until we die on this earth and go on to be with the Lord.
1 John 5:13 - "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." Believing the Word of God which reveals the name of the Son of God as Jesus will make us receive eternal life, and that eternal life is not just a theory or dogma, it is a knowledge of relationship with God the Father and His Son Jesus, so that we may continue to believe Jesus and receive the great eternal benefits of salvation.
Philippians 1:6 - "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ." This verse shows that God is the one who saved us and will continue to work with in us our salvation from the power of sin [i.e which we are expected to work out for supernatural blessings now and reward for eternity] until Jesus comes again to take us to be with Him or we will die to go on to be with Jesus where there will be no more presence of any sin. So salvation from starting to the end is God's work done by God working in us and helping us to allow its effect affect the world through us as we cooperate with Him. Fruit are never eaten by the tree, but by others only.
Ephesians 2:8 - "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God." We got saved by God's grace and our faith, but both are a gift of God given freely to us and can never ever be earned. If we did not earn our salvation, we cannot lose our salvation too. Gifts are always to be enjoyed, and God expects only that from us.
Romans 11:6 - "And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if [it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." We see in this above verse that if we try to earn salvation, we can never ever have it. But if we stop striving to earn salvation but by faith receive humbly the salvation that comes to us from God as a free gift, we cannot lose it forever. It can only be one or the other, both cannot be true as one is against the other.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." This above verse reveals that because God has given salvation as a free gift without even a bit of striving or our performance to earn it, we in ourselves cannot boast about receiving salvation, or show our self to others as though we are somebody great that God has to give an entry to heaven because of our saintly life. God did intentionally give salvation freely to all humans who believed Jesus, so that no humans can boast about their own effort in acquiring salvation before God. Salvation in not only free, but it is eternal because it is freely supplied without any human effort. In other words, if we have done something to gain salvation, we can lose it when we stop doing something. We can do nothing to gain salvation, also we cannot do anything to lose salvation because it is a free gift. It started with God and will end with God. We just enjoy what God started within us and let the glory of its work to be seen outside of us by the world for the Glory of God.
Romans 8:38-39 - "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Finally I am absolutely convinced by the Scripture that nothing--nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable--absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love to make us again become unsaved because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us freely to save us from our past, present and future sins once and for all time through his holy death, burial and resurrection, to freely gift us with eternal everlasting life to gain forever. If we are saved, we have nothing to lose but everything to gain. O what a miracle!!! O praise the Lord!!!!
Salvation is not a performance, but rather it is a life of God lived out that which God lives within us moment by moment. The more we co-operate with God to let Him live His life through us, the more we will be blessed and rewarded.
I do not believe that the grace message is a modern message, rather this is the core of the apostolic message, and that is why they called the good news of Jesus Christ as the "gospel of grace" (Acts 20:24). We are returning to the apostolic 1st century message of grace, because we have lost the essence of it, what it means to live under the power of grace that frees us from performance oriented Christian drudge.

This above verse reveals that because God has given salvation as a free gift without even a bit of striving or our performance to earn it, we in ourselves cannot boast about receiving salvation, or show our self to others as though we are somebody great that God has to give an entry to heaven because of our saintly life. God did intentionally give salvation freely to all humans who believed Jesus, so that no humans can boast about their own effort in acquiring salvation before God. Salvation in not only free, but it is eternal because it is freely supplied without any human effort. In other words, if we have done something to gain salvation, we can lose it when we stop doing something. We can do nothing to gain salvation, also we cannot do anything to lose salvation because it is a free gift. It started with God and will end with God. We just enjoy what God started within us and let the glory of its work to be seen outside of us by the world for the Glory of God.
Romans 8:38-39 - "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Finally I am absolutely convinced by the Scripture that nothing--nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable--absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love to make us again become unsaved because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us freely to save us from our past, present and future sins once and for all time through his holy death, burial and resurrection, to freely gift us with eternal everlasting life to gain forever. If we are saved, we have nothing to lose but everything to gain. O what a miracle!!! O praise the Lord!!!!
Salvation is not a performance, but rather it is a life of God lived out that which God lives within us moment by moment. The more we co-operate with God to let Him live His life through us, the more we will be blessed and rewarded.
I do not believe that the grace message is a modern message, rather this is the core of the apostolic message, and that is why they called the good news of Jesus Christ as the "gospel of grace" (Acts 20:24). We are returning to the apostolic 1st century message of grace, because we have lost the essence of it, what it means to live under the power of grace that frees us from performance oriented Christian drudge.
