He Was Godly Gem Of A Person, Was He Saved?
Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name! First of all I have previously shared that a person who does have a conscious mind to think only can decide to get saved even during coma, because believing is in the heart and therefore thoughts must be expressed to God before the body/soul leaves the body forever which is what death actually is.
Once a person's spirit/soul leaves the body, then eternal fate is already sealed forever, as it is confirmed through the Scripture that says, "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment." (Heb 9:27). This Scripture teaches us that there are no second chance we as humans get after our death to get saved, though there are a lot of experiential stories that people say that God gave them a chance for them to return to life after death to be a testimony to others, it is not a rule that God keeps but rather a exception in His sovereignty.
To me from what you have shared it seems to me that the person of your family who was in coma for two months, did indeed had a consciousness of his surrounding and internally was able to respond to external stimulus. Such people when they hear the good news of the gospel through the mercy of God and His grace through whatever available means and methods, have a great opportunity to realize their inability to save themselves eternally and reach out to God to save them from their sin. Yes people who choose Christ at the last moment before their death by being convicted by the Holy Spirit (John 16:7, 8-11), can receive the righteousness of Christ like the robber who was crucified with Christ got saved at the last moments before his death (Luke 23:40-43).
Yes our face is the window of our soul and whatever happens inside our soul, automatically our face will reveal it. Even though the body of your family member was weak and fragile, yet as the Bible says, "a happy heart makes the face cheerful" (Prov 15:13). So the goodness of God that was released in his heart through the joy of salvation (Psa 51:12), must have caused his face to shine or become brighter.
Even there was some external evidence of the internal faith that God has wrought in this person of your family was evident, when he knelt and prayed, decided to take the immersion baptism by conviction from the Holy Spirit, etc... We know that any faith that does not have works is dead, so the external evidence of internal faith is works that glorify God through our simple obedience (James 2:26; Eph 2:8-10).
As far as I have heard from your side, I believe that this person of your family must have come to believe that Jesus Christ the Savior as the Lord of his life, so let us look forward to seeing those saints who have gone before us to heaven as a witness of what the Lord can do by the mercies and grace of His love for us sinners who deserve hell fire (Heb 12:1; Lam 3:21-23; Psa 130:3-4). But in Christ Jesus through His benevolence we shall forever be blessed through His grace and faith that is our victory as long as we are present alive in this earth (Eph 1:3; 2:4-5; 6-7; Tit 3:5-7).
Much Blessings....
