Why Is It Easy To Forgive Our Family Members Of Blood Than Those Who Are Not?

Is The Hurt Same As Hate? Does Hurt Always Turn Into Hatred?

Question: Is the hurt same as hate? Does hurt always turn into hatred? It's so easy for us to forgive our blood relatives...the love we have for them blind us even from their evil acts and behavior and it's the opposite with the people who are not bonded to us with blood.

Answer: Greetings to you in Jesus wonderful name!

The great Paul the apostle said, "I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable." (1 Cor 15:50)
.

The flesh in us should die for the spiritual man to arise and shine. It is opposite to each other, that is why we need the grace of Christ without which we can do nothing to make a eternal difference. The sin nature of our forefather Adam which has come in to us when we were formed in our mothers womb and lived with it when we were born on earth, always have this wrong tendency within it to love our blood relatives and hate our enemies (Psa 51:5; Matt 5:43). Old Adamic nature loves familiarity, acceptance, comfort, so on and so forth which creates lust in us, which mean that we start to crave for something temporal more than the eternal God who is with us to provide us all our needs now and forevermore. So we must rise up from the flesh to live in the Spirit, in order not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Gal 5:16). The flesh nature works within us against the Spirit's nature of God and His goodness, and the Spirit's nature of God and His goodness works against the fleshly nature of sin, self and Satan. In these two natures within us, the one always works against the other, and thus we should stop doing the things we desire and start doing the things God's wants us to do through our lives.

Hurt is the pain or injury to our spirit, soul or body someone has caused to us. Hurt does not turn in to hate, if we do not react with our sin nature but rather choose to act with Christ nature and mind that is within us
(1 Cor 2:16; 1 Pet 2:21-23).

Hate is how we have reacted to the way people have acted towards us. Hate is another form of fear of getting hurt, that makes us think about hurting those people who hurt us again, or keep them out of our sight in order to protect ourselves from getting hurt again.

The great Tamil poet of the past named as 'Thiruvalluvar', in his writing of 'Thirukkural' said, "The wound made by hurting with fire will heal but the wound created by harsh words uttered using out tongue leaves an indelible scar.” True, words can create scars that cannot heal, but only Christ Jesus can remove the hurt along with the scar to make us be healed completely and be made whole. Most of the time people words hurt us, and sometimes even violence along with words or after words hurt us to a point of no return, where we react to hate, instead of acting to forgive and letting go in to the hands of God for Him to take vengeance in His time and place against the offenders who have defended themselves for their own benefits.

Our flesh loves the relatives naturally because it is comfortable with the fact that someone who belongs to our gene will not hurt us. But is it true according to the Word of God? Natural love cannot be weighed naturally to find its true colors, but it must be weighed by the spiritual gold standard that God has set for us to check it. And that gold standard can only be found when we obey the words of Jesus by learning to be His disciples as He Himself said, ""If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison--your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26, NLT). There is a cost of discipleship when we love Jesus, the sacrifice of love Jesus has made for us, it cannot even be compared to the sacrifice our close family members who make for us, so that our love for God and Jesus Christ must comparatively look like hating our fleshly relationship, when compared to the great love we have for our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. In other words, when Jesus says something through His Word, and the closest of our family members are saying us to do something to break it, we should hate the one who tells us to break the Word of God and instead do the Word of God that tells us to do something in love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Matt 12:46-50; Mark 3:31-35; Luke 8:21). This is the gold standard to test our true spirituality. When Sadhu Sundar Singh the great man of God asked before his conversion that whosoever is the 'True God' would appear before him, or else he would kill himself; that very night he had an enlightening vision of Jesus who opened Sundar's soul to the truth. Sundar announced to his father, Sher Singh, that henceforth he would get converted into the missionary work of Christ. His father denounced him, and his brother Rajender Singh attempted to poison him. He was not poisoned just once but a number of times.

So when the love for Jesus is weighed with our familial love for our blood relatives, kith and kins, that is the place where we come to know that even such relatives of blood will easily fail us when it comes to higher spiritual level of faith.

This is the reason God said, ""Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!" (Isa 49:15, NLT). There are times when God proves to us that the closest blood relatives may fail us when we seek to fulfill the will of God for our lives, because all do not have the same kind of faith like us (2 Thess 3:2). Even some husband or wife or father or mother or brother or sister may run away from us and fail our trust because of our faith in Jesus and for being a disciple of Jesus Christ (1 Cor 7:15-16).

This is the also the reason Jesus commanded us who are His disciples saying, "44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,... 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect." (Matt 5:44, 48). Can we love our enemies by our own flesh? The flesh fails miserably, only the Lord by His Supernatural Divine Love can help us succeed in this endeavor. Can we bless those who curse us? Only the Holy Spirit can help us supernaturally do this by the power of heaven's fire over our tongue (Jam 3:8-9). Can we do good to those who hate us? How can we ever do this until the Lord steps in to us and does something wonderful for His own glory, can we ever boast about it, if we were enabled by Jesus to act good to those who hate us (Gal 3:2-3; Eph 2:8-9; 1 Cor 1:31; 3:7, 21; 4;6; 8:1; 2 Cor 3:5; 4:7; 12:9). No, only we can give glory to Jesus for all our good works! Can we pray for those who deceitfully use us as a commodity and then persecute us where when we are not weak in ourselves but rather are meek in the Lord when the Holy Spirit acts through us, that is, in not reacting to people's poison of hurt and choosing not to hate them but overcome their evil with good Character of the Lord which acts through us by our submissive life of surrender to God (Rom 12:21).

Above all Jesus further taught us through his prayer, that we have the rights to go before the Father God to ask for forgiveness of our own sins only when we have already forgiven the sins of others who are debtors, if we do not forgive people of their sins, Father God will not forgive our sins also likewise (Matt 6:12, 14-15). What a warning to those Luke-warm Christians and double minded Christians, who want the world and also the Lord along with it for His blessings!

We cannot ever fulfill this demand of Jesus to forgive everyone who hurt us even in a million years, if we are not true disciples of His and are true to our heart, in our own strength of our flesh we will fail, until we begin to fall at the feet of our Lord Jesus to receive His grace and strength and power to overcome the debts of hurt that people knowingly or unknowingly by demonic influence cause it in our lives.

Know one thing, hurt people will only hurt others. We cannot drink the poison of hate and unforgiveness, and then expect the other person to die when the time for the execution of judgment comes to us in the time God has set for it. If we do not defend ourselves, then God defends for us. If we choose to defend ourselves, then God has no place to act on behalf of us.

Whether we like it or not, we should choose to practice forgiveness with all those who hurt us, and in doing so we let go and let God do the talking on behalf of us. That is what God expects of us. God says, "19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “ If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Rom 12:19-21). In short, God tells us never to react, but instead act with the new life of Jesus Christ and the character he has provided within us to overcome the evil that is coming against us. By acting with the new life to provide our enemies with some food and drink which they lack both physically and spiritually, as God brings such instruments of evil to the mat who hate you in to a place of dryness in their lives. Then our Divine works will heap coals of fire on the head of those who hurt us and then hate us too. No better way to overcome evil than the way the Lord Jesus has taught us who are His disciples! Never react to what people do, instead act the way Jesus will!

Only when we practice as the disciples of Jesus what He has taught us to, only then our blindness of bias to forgive and overlook the evil acts and behavior of our blood relatives easily, but demanding a repayment and vengeance towards the people who are not bonded to us with blood, can such childish spiritual life of flesh can be avoided and overcome through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. If we continue with our childish way of immature life to live and, "only love those who love us, what reward will we get? Are not even the business actors and deceivers do that?" (Matt 5:46), our eternal reward will be nothing and absolutely nothing when we stand before the Lord to receive His eternal reward for our life lived on earth as we have acted childishly. May we grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ our Lord and receive great eternal rewards for our efforts on earth because of our love for Jesus, and for a life well lived on earth by living a life purposefully and fully pleasing to God just like Jesus lived before us on earth as a example to follow (1 Peter 2:21). Praise the Lord!

Much Blessings.....
