What Is The Meaning Of Sowing A Seed, Is It Tithing Or Preaching The Word Of God?
Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name!
Sowing a seed is to sow the word of God and as well as give support to the cause of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
"The sower sows the word." (Mark 4:14). Here the Gospel worker preaches and teaches the Word of God.
"6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life." (Gal 6:6-8). Here the believer is taught to sow in to the Gospel ministry of the Spirit and extend the Kingdom of God through which God promises both temporal and eternal blessings forever more.
It is not wrong to appeal for funds for ministry, how well it is used will decide whether the seeds are sown on good grounds or thorny and stony ground. Every Gospel preacher and teacher of the Word of God should carefully under the guidance of the Spirit, should use the resources that God provides for the furtherance of God's Kingdom with much thoughtfulness and guidance of the Holy Spirit because the judgment for the leader will be stricter thank for other believers in the house of God, and judgment for the house of God will precede the judgment for the world because of the love of God towards us (Jam 3:1; 2 Pet 2:13; 1 Pet 4:17).
So sowing the seed is used for both preaching and teaching of the Word of God, and also used for receiving tithe and offerings for the cause of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all the world, which is the work of God done through the Church and the five-fold ministries which Jesus has appointed on earth to do this work of His (Eph 4:11).
As far as believers are concerned, they should test the fruits of the ministry they sow their tithe and offering in to (Matt 7:15-20), because Jesus wants his children to become mature enough not to be fed up with ministries that are not transparent enough and unaccountable to show true fruits of spreading the revival fire through their work (Eph 4:14; Acts 2:1-4, 41-42, 46-47; 4:33; 6:2, 4, 6-7), but expects his people to be able to test and find out the false prosperity preaching ministries and understand that they are not genuine ministry but rather liars through discerning their crooked ways (Rev 2:2). Jesus always will commend such believers and will never say to them ever, "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." (Psa 105:15), especially when the ministry that is scrutinized focuses on money rather than spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations and disciplining them in the way of the Lord (Acts 8:20; Php 3:18-19; 2 Tim 4:10; Mark 16:15; Matt 28:18-20).
It is the Holy Spirit who should give discernment of the true ministries from the false in our generation, as well as those whose main focus is on collection of offering and tithes at the cost of neglecting the Gospel ... if I start naming one ministry after the other, I might make the people of God to return to the letter of the law rather than the law of the ministry of the Spirit in which the Holy Spirit teaches, guides, warns, comforts, enlightens, etc...a believer to make Him be blessed to be a blessing to many around them. None should take the place of the Holy Spirit and grieve Him to make the people of God return to the Old Testament style of religious lifestyle rather than the spiritual lifestyle of the New Testament in which God becomes a friend as like to Abraham the father of our faith.
May the Lord give discernment for his people to seek Him and find out through obedience to His Word to know the false ministries from the genuine ministries, and support the true and reject the false for the Glory of God in these end times. Great is the commendation waiting for the the sowers of the word as well as sower of finance in to the Kingdom of God from Jesus and great eternal reward will follow them because of sowing in to fertile ground for wise harvest of souls (Prov 11:30). Only souls we will be able to take along with us as friends for eternity ahead as our great and mighty treasure (Luke 16:9).
Much Blessings....
