Does The Bible Gives Any Hint Of How To Keep Ourselves From Corona Virus?
Question: Today when the world sees the Corona virus Pandemic, we have come to the conclusion that we need to keep our hands sanitised, wear a mosque and keep ourselves from touching a infected person, keep ourselves from touching our own face near our mouth, nose, eyes and ears which are all interconnected through which viruses and bacterias can easily enter to infect us. My question is, does the Bible give any hint regarding these things to learn to keep ourselves from these pandemic?

Bible is the most up to date Book that is living and has a Divine life of its own to breathe upon us by the Spirit of God who brings it alive to us (Psa 80:18).
God had delivered His people Israel from the nation of Egypt nearly 3500 years ago, and lead nearly 2 million people through the desert and made them settle in the promised land of Canaan which is today called as the nation of Israel in the middle east.
He taught them spiritual cleanliness as well as physical cleanliness to keep their lives healthy and strong for the Glory of God.
The Bible has laws of quarantine long before the medical science discovered the importance of quarantine of persons with infectious diseases.
In fact the Bible was the first to instigate such a practice.
During the devastating Black Death of the 14th century, patients who were sick or dead were kept in the same rooms as the rest of the family. People often wondered why the disease was affecting so many people at one time. They attributed the epidemics to “bad air” or “evil spirits,” in fact if they had turned to the Bible medically for advice, they would have saved millions of lives who had died during that time. The laws of quarantine did not come until the 17th century.
In 1490 B.C itself, the Scriptures tell the children of Israel what to do if a man has leprosy: “All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be.” (Leviticus 13: 46).
The law of washing and the first model of sanitary legislation, in which it is not just the washing of hands but taking bath for the whole body has been encouraged when there is a chance of any healthy person who by chance comes in to contact with a diseased or unclean person through touch or any other means.
The Bible says to those people who have come in to contact with the virus or bacterially infected person who has a discharge or who had it but now have got it stopped, "5 So if you touch the man's bed, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. 6 If you sit where the man with the discharge has sat, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. 7 If you touch the man with the discharge, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. 8 If the man spits on you, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. 9 Any saddle blanket on which the man rides will be ceremonially unclean. 10 If you touch anything that was under the man, you will be unclean until evening. You must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. 11 If the man touches you without first rinsing his hands, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. 12 Any clay pot the man touches must be broken, and any wooden utensil he touches must be rinsed with water." (Lev 15:5-12, NLT).The very touch upon the diseased or the touch of the diseased and their contact with surfaces will cause an infectious virus to spread as in the case of Corona virus too. Returning back to the Bible will also sharpen our medical senses to stay safe without disease and be healthy in our lives for the Glory of God. Because God Himself reveals and wishes us through His Word saying, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as they soul prospereth.” (3 John 2). Jesus Christ our Lord has come to give us all personally the abundant life of eternal satisfaction through faith and obedience to his word by our belief (John 10:10).
In other words, God does not stop short at instructing mankind how he can be prosperous and be in health. He cares for our entire well-being, to live life at its fullest and wholesomeness.
In the above Scripture Leviticus 15:11, we see the Bible emphasize the "rinsing" of one's hand to contain the spread of the virus. The Medical experts say regarding Corona that when attached to a metal surface, the corona virus can live for 12 hours. Washing hands with soap and water is enough. When attached to a cloth, the corona virus can live for 9 hours, so washing clothes or drying it in the sun for 2 hours is enough to kill it. When attached to the hand, the corona virus can live for 10 minutes, so that it provides an alcohol-based sterilizer enough to be on guard.
The Bible tells those who were infected to wash their clothes and dry it until evening, so that the virus if surviving may die in the sun shine heat. When in the air at temperatures 26-27 ° C, the corona virus will die so it does not live in hot areas, in addition experts say that drinking hot water and basking in the sun is enough as a precaution.
So the medical updates must get up to Biblical truth, but it can never go beyond it.
So what does the Bible say about wearing a mask or covering over one's face?
The Bible says, "And the leper in whom the plague [is], his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean." (Lev 13:45).
The same applies to the healthy person to stay away from getting infected by chance through air or touch upon one's face with their own hands if it has become unclean, to avoid such a scenario he has to wear a mask and stay safe. As for Corona virus it sticks to objects, so that transmission is not through the air and therefore does not float in the air as the diameter of the virus is 400-500 micro which is very large medically, any type of mask can prevent entry into our bodies and does not need to use expensive masks.
Why we were comparing the present Corona virus pandemic's scientific treatments to the Bible is to make us realize the need for all humans of all generation to turn to the Bible and find true guidance to experience life and stay healthy now in this life and also for the life to come after our death on earth.
The Bible in short is a love letter from God to all humans to come to Him in repentance and humbly find eternal life which He is ready to give to all those who come to Him.
In fact Jesus said, "Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this...?" (John 11:26, NLT). In true reality of the depth of the meaning, to die is to get separated from God and his goodness we have experienced on earth after our death, so when Jesus says, he who believes in me will never ever die, it means he is saying that the favor of God over our lives will continue to be over our lives on earth, and even after we die physically we will continue to be under the care of God and soon rise up in our new glorious resurrected metaphysical body to live forever under the favor of God in his presence in the new heaven and new earth.
Are you ready? You are asking me for what, to believe in all the promises of God given in the Bible for us to continue to live for now and forever under the favor and safety of God's hand. Amen!
