Question: I don't think this present Iran war has anything to do with the prophecy of Zechariah 2:5 and 12:1-10. Remember, they did it in Syria before.
Several conflicts are in prophecy. But key ones are written. The main one is Ezekiel 38/39 conflict.
Some say it is Armageddon. But I don't think so.
Gog is killed in Ezekiel 38. It is the next frontier.

We see in Zechariah 2:5 and 12:1-10, in which God uses Israel to judge the antisemitic rogue terrorist nations that want to destroy Israel from existence in the end of end times. In Zechariah 12:6 reveals, "In that day (God) will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left (which includes Syria, Iran, Lebanon, etc.., but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place; Jerusalem." First JERUSALEM was declared as the capital of Israel in its own place by Donald John Trump in his first presidency. This exact fulfillment of "governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they ((i.e) Prime minister and the national Israel's Defence Force (IDF)) shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left" is happening before our very eyes in the conflict with Iran being hit by Israel now in the second presidency of the same man Donald John Trump.
What does this teach us, if we take pains to study the Bible pattern of the prophecy being fulfilled, we can clearly understand the heart of God for this generation, so that we and our household can be delivered from evils that are going to come upon the whole world.
The one Reason Gog is not killed but kept in prison, is that it continues after the Millennial rule of Jesus and the Church gets over and done. Yes, in Ezekiel 38-39, Gog does not do a 7 years and 7 months Israel clean up of nuclear remains, but the Messiah of Israel who comes to rescue the nation of Israel from annihilation, will call the devouts to clean the nuclear affected portion for the building of the Fourth Temple in the North Mountains, which comes near Jerusalem, which are exactly the mountains surrounding it and beyond in which Valley of Jehoshaphat in which the last Battle between God and Satan had already started before the Millennium and ends only after the Millennium. Satan will be put in prison in between for a thousand years.
