Decisions On Marriage And Astrology Confusion
Question : My family members are not believers. They believe in astrology, so they asked and consulted about my marriage to three astrologist. And three of them told that I have so many problem in my life and my marriage will take place only after 6 month or after two and half years. I do not believe in these things, but for the past one week I am so confused. Believe me pastor, I am not in a hurry to get married, but now situation is that my daddy's health is not good. Because of that I have to take decisions for my marriage, and hearing all these things I am really getting so much confused for the past one week. I have not eaten proper food because of my daddy's health, then I want to take step for my marriage further, and am waiting for a good believer who is serving the Lord. Even I want to serve with him toward the Lord's service. Please help pastor.. need a good answer.
Answer : Simply the answer is with you and God. How you are going to proceed is your decision? It is by faith or fear, which of this you are going to allow to rule over you. When you walk by faith you will surely have a great reward (Heb 10:35-36). If you succumb to fear, you will receive more dis-appointments in life. Fear will make you move away from the will of God for your life. But regarding the astrology thing, if you believe the lies of the devil it will start to affect your mind and life in a negative way.
Read the following Scriptures and decide for yourself : Jer 10:1-11; Deut 13:1-18; Isa 8:19-22; Psa 106:28-30
If you allow the fear of the devil to control you, then the blessing of faith will not be experienced by you. Do not ever give in to the lies of the devil, there is no true light in astrology and it is a abomination to the Lord to ever consult such astrologer and a medium like that. Read what God says regarding this, "10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer [i.e. astrologer], or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. 13 You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. 14 For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not appointed such for you." (Deut 18:10-14).
God wants you to be blameless before Him, reject those so called divined lies that tries to influence you, and instead believe that the Lord Jesus and your Heavenly Father who are more concerned about your life. God will lead you in the right way which He has planned for you to take. Have faith in the Lord's plan which does not have any negative plan to bring fear in to your life but only good success and positive plans for your spiritual growth, but Satan and his demonic insidious plans will always be bad and will bring fear in to your heart!
Then when you are blameless by faith before God, you need not fear about anything of what the demons and devils are trying to say and do in order to intimidate your faith in Jesus Christ. Hear what God says when you have faith in Him and stand against the devil's lies, "21 “He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them. 22 God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox. 23 “For there is no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!’" (Num 24:21-23). Faith life is essential to experience all the blessings of God that He has described in the above verse for you personally. First of all He observes no iniquity of your sin nature or sees no wickedness in you from your past because you believe in Jesus and are covered by His blood through confessing all your sins (1 John 1:7, 9). God is with you and shout of our King Jesus is over you life. Hence there can no demon power of sorcery or divination that can work against you because you are a child of the most high God. Through His very own strength He has saved you from sin and He himself has become your salvation, so you need not be afraid of any devils (Psa 27:1; 118:14; Exo 15:2; Isa 12:2). O how great is the salvation that He has given you! But also you have responsibility on your part not to neglect the great salvation of faith that God has prepared for you or else you will not receive the reward of faith that God has in store for you (Heb 2:2-3). God is a rewarder of those who believe that He is in control of their lives and who diligently seek Him and His will to be fulfilled in their lives (Heb 11:6).
God says, "14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “ I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 17 Therefore “ Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” 18 “ I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.” (2 Cor 6:14-18).
I believe that from the above Scripture you will understand that it is God's will at the very basic level to marry only an another believer who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ like you. So this is a test to you, so stand for the Lord and be blessed. I suggest to you to keep all your problems in to the hands of the Lord and receive the peace that passes all understanding from heaven, to keep your mind from being worried and fearful of what is going to happen. Worries are something that wastes our time, when we dwell on it and will bring more fear in to our life. So avoid it by giving it all to God with thanksgiving for what He will do for you and through you in your life (Php 4:6-7). Learn to rejoice in the Lord by not seeing your circumstances but rather giving glory to God like Abraham for the good plans that He has for you, and is going to do for you in the coming days because of His love toward you (Php 4:4; Rom 4:20; Jer 29:11; 31:3). Then in Jesus mighty name pray for your parents to know the Lord and for your father's healing too, who knows, the Lord might have mercy upon them too and might do a miracle in their lives too (1 Tim 2:1-4; John 16:23).
But make sure that you are a disciple of Jesus and keep self, parents, brothers or sisters next to Jesus always. And comparatively love Jesus so much that it should seem as though you are hating your fleshly relationship with family members when it comes in to conflict with obedience to Jesus and His ways (Luke 14:26). When you live like this, I am sure you will have a blessed life ahead in the days to come and will be used by God mightily for His Glory. Very soon God will bring the right believer and the man of God in to your life which He has for you in His heart too, so that you can serve Him all the days of your life. Get along with your pastor and other believers and tell them to pray for you so that you might be strengthened to walk in the way God has planned for you. Praying that God will help you stand for Him by faith and not succumb in to fear and disappointment.
