Is The New Heaven And New Earth Really New, Or Old Refurbished?
Question : Is Rev 21:1 speaking about the Old earth refurbished by God to be called as new earth, or is it really new in its entirety? Only one earth we see in the initial creation and from them on to until now there is no change at all. If God were to change the world and the old earth completely, He could have changed it all in the post flood world, but He chose the same earth to continue. So why not the same earth be called as the new earth in Rev 21:1?
Answer : Greetings in Jesus wonderful name! Revelation 21:1 speaks not about the present world, but the one that is coming, one that the Lord will build and run it under Him for eternity ahead. That is, a new heaven and a new earth, in it there will be no more sea because it is not God's will for humans to have it in the new creation of God [Read the following post: "Is the sea part of the God’s original purpose?"] : for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. In other words, the present earth and heaven with sea in it will pass away in to non-existence. How do we know fore sure that the new heaven and new earth is not the present one when the water can be dried and the same earth can be refurbished and used? Because the New Testament reveals that the present earth along with the present heavens and the visible universe will be burnt by God with fire in the future after the Millennial rule of Jesus with all the Church saints, and therefore it will all become gas to vanish away for ever, this will be the judgment for the present earth and heaven for its sin done in it for the all the Millenniums that humans under the influence of evil angels and their innate sin nature within them were at loose to sin in it because of the free-choice God had given to them. Angels actually have sinned from the beginning of time in which Satan spearheaded the rebellion against God because of his pride, and by convincing one third of angels a better life that he will provide in his kingdom, took one third of the entire angels in heaven and have fallen to the earth along with them (2 Peter 3:10-11, 12, 13; Matt 25:30, 41, 46; 1 John 3:8; Rev 12:4). That is why for all the rebels after the white throne judgment of God that will take place somewhere outside of this present visible universe, these rebels i.e. evil angels and wicked unsaved humans will be dumped in to the place of hell fire which God initially prepared for the evil rebellious angels (Rev 20:11-15; 1 Cor 6:3, 2; Matt 25:41, 46). So I believe that you have understood it.
So the bottom line is, the builder and maker of the entire new heaven and new earth will be completely God (Heb 11:10), and therefore it will not even have any micro dust size of the old material in it as it will become gas to get evaporated in to oblivion for the evilness of the old world.
