Do We Believe In Karma?
Question: If l am going through a lot of troubled hard days, thus it means I am going through HELL. Or What I did in past is coming back to me like a cycle. As the Lord JESUS said what you sow you reap. Do we believe in Karma?
Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name!
Karma is a Hindu doctrine that believes the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences and also good or bad luck, viewed as resulting from one's actions. Karma takes out the picture of a sovereign God who loves us as a Father, His only begotten Son who died to save us from our sins, and finally the Holy Spirit who is our great helper who lives within us to overcome all our weaknesses through praying to God for victory and His will to be done through us. So as a Christian we need to stand on Rom 8:28, that is, even all the good and bad things that happen, God works together for the good of all those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. All curses Jesus Christ took upon Himself so that we can be blessed like Father Abraham was blessed through his faith (Rom 4:16, 20-21; Gal 3:13, 14). Faith is our victory, even though sometimes through our struggles we may find it all difficult to believe and trust God. But understand, heaven we see and the earth we live might pass away, but the Word of God will stay with power and be fulfilled in the life of all who have believed to stand on it by faith (Matt 24:35; 1 Thess 2:13).
There are no good or bad luck for a Christian because God works all things together for the good of a Christian who is His child, therefore there is a good time, and a bad time, but all times God stands within and upon a Child of God and uses both the times to bring something eternally good for us all. Therefore only God's favor and blessings exist for a Christian. Though some things might seem as a temporary failure and defeat, in the long run all are turned in to a special blessing, so that we can learn by experience to be thankful to our loving Father in Heaven for the rest of eternity ahead. Paul wrote in the Book of Galatians 6:7, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." This above verse cannot be compared to a godless karma theory where God is wrongly pictured as being powerless, loveless and not involved in our everyday life to turn the curses in to a blessings because of his love towards us (Deut 23:5). But rather it is written by apostle Paul to the mockers who speak faith and profess one thing with their mouth but live totally the opposite of what they profess to be. These are deceived believers, who think that because God gives His grace, he does not demand holiness. When in fact God has clearly revealed through His word that "without pursuing peace with God and men, along with holiness no one will be able to see God and His great activity of true temporal and eternal blessings their lives." (Heb 12:14).
So those who try to mock God with their lives of religious hypocrisy before people, will be ashamed to end up without the true eternal blessings of the grace of God at the end of their lives because of being fallen from it, and will end up in bitterness against God and men to lose both temporal and eternal rewards (Heb 12:15-17). All the children of God who willingly take up the cross of Christ (Luke 9:23-26), and daily put their own will and the cravings of flesh to death in order to walk in the will of God day by day (Gal 5:16-17; Rom 13:14; Col 3:5), might be chastised by God because of His love to perfect them more (John 15:2; Heb 12:6, 11), but they will be favored and eternally blessed in their future lives (Isa 54:7-8; Ps 30:5).
Please do not misunderstand troubles, Jesus did not promise a bed of roses all the time for God's children, but rather in a very practical and pragmatic way with understanding the state of humans in sin and the world the system of governance ruled by the influence of Satan (2 Cor 4:4), Jesus encouraged the believers saying, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV). So according to what Jesus has foretold us, troubles being experienced in the life of a believer who live as God's child in this world doesn't mean that they are going through the troubled days as like Hell, even though they feel like that sometimes, the feelings do not convey the truth and it will go away as times passes on. It is not always because of sins or something wrong the believer have done, they go through such hellish feelings, but because we have fight against the evil powers in the heavenly places, we experience feelings that the evil powers of the world bring to us in order to oppress and suppress the joy, peace and righteousness of the Kingdom of God within us to to which we belong (Rom 14:17). So to overcome these kind of temporary struggles, please go pray to Jesus Christ everyday to give your troubles and take His peace within you to keep your mind safe in faith as God has promised that He cares for you (Php 4:6-7; 1 Peter 5:7). The very reason there are a lot of cares that troubles you because, you have not transferred it all for Jesus to carry and solve it, instead you are trying to carry it in your life. Have peace in Jesus by taking His peace to keep your mind still through daily prayers done by keeping a personal time in your closet alone with God. When you cheer yourself up by taking the things given to you from within your spiritual heart, that is peace, joy and righteousness all the time, all will be well in faith because you will understand the Great God Almighty as the one who is in control of all your life's problems in all its complexities, and you will safely rest in God by believing His promises that He will never leave you, nor forsake you to fail you though because of the complex nature of your specific problems faced it might seem unsolvable (Heb 13:5, 6). Remember, nothing is impossible with God when we live in partnership with Him through developing intimacy and friendship through personal closet prayers done daily to transfer our troubles and receive peace to live in it for the Glory of God (Luke 1:37).
God desires all His children to succeed, but the most important thing for God to work in our lives is that we need faith, and without it God is never pleased with us (Heb 11:6). For us to maintain and grow in faith, we need to constantly feed ourselves with the Word of God and maintain our peace through prayer (Rom 10:17). The LORD has promised that if we hold our peace and keep silent and still, believing in His power to fight for us and give victory, then the Lord can easily bring good success and victory in all areas of life (Exo 14:14; Psa 46:10; Jos 1:8).
