What Is It In The Nature Of A Sexual Sin That Makes Paul Highlight This As Being Against A Man's Body?

Why Sexual Immorality Is A Sin Against Our Own Body Unlike Other Sins?

Question : Please help me to understand this. Why are sexual sins specified by Paul as being the only sins against his body? Why not, for example, drugs or alcohol? And what is it in the nature of a sexual sin that makes Paul highlight this as being against a man's body?

Answer : All sins are detriment to good spiritual health and
"all unrighteousness is sin" (1 John 5:17). Paul the apostle says, "16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." (1 Cor 6:16-18). The above verses clearly shows that once we get married with a woman, though we are two different personalities and may even be from two different background, yet once the marriage covenant is done before God, there comes a mystical spiritual union between the husband and wife in such a way that the two become one in purpose, mind and desire in God. God comes in between them and joins them in this supernatural mystical union. This union goes on to such a level spiritually that according to God He considers both the husband and wife as one flesh, which Adam also confessed when he saw God bring Eve to him for marriage thus saying, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." (Gen 2:23). Just like when a human is spiritually joined to the Lord God in the spirit man interpenetratively within after he/she is born again (John 3:3-8), in the same way because a woman is taken out of man initially, they are both joined in the flesh as one unit before God.

A believer in Jesus is spiritually like he is married to God because of a mystical spiritual union within his heart which always thinks inline with the
"mind of Christ" (1 Cor 2:16). When a man commits adultery or fornication, he destroys the unit which God sees as one and joins himself in rebellion to God with the harlot's body just for his lust to be fulfilled momentarily. But the spiritual consequence of the physical unfaithfulness will cost the person who commits adultery with lack of joy, peace, righteousness within his soul as the blessing of God will be wasted with the harlot (Rom 14:17). Or in other words, when a physical union happens each time, a piece of one's soul and emotions that accompany one's life will get attached to the person with whom the physical intercourse is done. This is the reason the Bible says, "Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul." (Prov 6:32). The soul is so interconnected with our body in such a way that if "we have a sound heart, it is life to the body" (Prov 14:30) and anxiety in the heart of man causes depression which is the number one reason for all untimely death (Prov 12:25). So each person who commits adultery is fragmenting his soul and losing it for nothing but a momentary satisfaction that haunts enough to cause perpetual dissatisfaction.

The man or woman who commits adultery is also losing the mystical spiritual unity with their spouse that God has set before them from the time of marriage, and therefore will experience great difficulty in their married life. For the problems that come in marriage, each person in it should humble before God and confess their unfaithfulness towards their spouse in their thoughts, desires and body before God to receive forgiveness, and be restored by the grace of God
(1 John 1:7, 9).

All other sins a believer might do like for example, drugs or alcohol, etc... as they indulge in it progressively, will destroy and defile their body in general which is the temple of the living God, God has definitely promised to allow destruction of evil to destroy the adamant unrepentant saint with the same thing they have used to create froth and frolic, as God cannot be mocked
(1 Cor 3:16-17; Gal 6:7). When a saints is caught in the bondage of sins without repentance, it will be the biggest judgment upon him as he will feel miserable without the tangible Presence of God. When believers sows evil seed in to their own lives which destroys their body by sinning through non-sexual sins, soon over a period of time, when the Lord lifts up His hand of protection over their lives, soon they will experience bondage and emptiness within their soul (Matt 12:43-45), and their bodies will be affected by the effects of sin which they have indulged in, thus God cannot be mocked because He makes all reap what they have sowed wrongly in to their own life which belongs to God, and destroys the disobedient and rebellious children for having destroyed God's temple which is their own body (Gal 6:7; 1 Cor 3:17; Heb 4:4-6). God expects the saints to resist the lure of sin and wants them to give their bodies to Him as a living sacrifice to fulfill His plan and purpose for their lives through serving Him with gratefulness for having saved them from sin (James 1:12; 4:7; Heb 1:9; Rom 12:1-2).

The nature of a sexual sin that makes Paul highlight this as being against a man's body is the mysterious union that is set by God upon a couple who are in marital covenant between them. This one flesh and bone blessing of unity will be destroyed by the adulterer as God Himself will judge each unchastice man and woman with a broken soul which will directly affect the health of his/her body, as the institution of marriage belongs to Him and Him alone
(Gen 2:23-25; Heb 13:4). The joyous mystical union with in marriage is a gift that God has given to all those who are faithful before Him to their own partners (Eccl 5:18-20; 6:3; Prov 5:18-19, 21-22; 30:18-20).

God also judges people bodily through various diseases that contract people who indulge in illegal sexual activity. There are more people who have received sexually transmitted disease in a moment when they committed adultery and fornication which they were not able to reverse, and have thus caused regret for them and their whole family. AIDS is another type of disease that mainly spreads when a person breaks his marital covenant before God and indulge in intercourse outside of one's marriage. It has killed more people than any other deadly disease in the last hundred years and is without doubt a big judgment upon the whole end of end times generation and humanity as a whole. The breaking of the one flesh and bone in the mystical union of marriage which God has created and set in to force is that which Paul the apostle warns saying that the one who "
commits sexual immorality sins against his own body [which includes his soulish blessedness in his marital life and the oneness in purpose, desire and mind with his wife within marriage]."

Much Blessings....
