I Would Like To Believe I am From Abraham's Descendant!

Are All The Believers In Christ Of Abraham's Tribe?

Question : Is everyone of us believers in Christ, Abraham's tribe? Or only someone like Moses and the Jews are of the tribe of Abraham's descendants ... I would like to believe I'm from Abraham descendant.

Answer : Greetings to you in Jesus wonderful name! I know that because of the importance that Abraham gets both in the religious world and secular world, we all would love to be of his descendant. Even God has given a very high standing of glory to Abraham's name and called him His personal friend (Jam 2:23; Isa 41:8).

Abraham has both physical and spiritual descendants according to God. When God showed Abraham and promised to increase his descendants like the dust of the earth He was speaking about his physical descendants who are the nation of Israel, and like when He blessed Abraham to multiply like stars in the sky He was in fact speaking about his spiritual descendants of faith who will multiply through Christ within the Church. The dust of the earth blessing he gave to the physical descendants of him who will come through Isaac his son and Jacob his grandson, but the star blessings was given to the Church that is going to come from all the peoples of the earth through Jesus Christ who will be his physical descendant (Gen 13:16; 15:5).

Here we are, not with the dust of the earth blessing, but with the stars blessing through Christ. So the physical descendant of Abraham are still there in the nation of Israel of today with the dust of the earth blessing. But we as a part of the Church, we are living as the spiritual descendants of Abraham through Jesus Christ our Lord who has supplied to us this STARS-BLESSING which is greater than the DUST OF THE EARTH-BLESSING, because the dust of the earth blessing will only be effective for earthly living but our star-blessing will not only be effective upon us now but also will pay dividends for the life to come which is heavenly living with God just like Abraham lives today with God in the grandeur of the city of God (Heb 11:13-16; 1 Tim 4:8). We as spiritual descendants of Abraham do not compete now with the physical descendants of Abraham which is the nation of Israel, but rather we complement each other because they hold the oracle of God [i.e. Scripture] physically, but spiritually we have inherited the blessings of the oracle of God which is Christ in us the hope of our glory within our lives now and forever (Eph 2:11-13; Col 1:27).

So what does the great apostle Paul say regarding this, " 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying,“In you all the nations shall be blessed.”" (Gal 3:6-8).

In other words, when we are spiritual descendants of Abraham, we are not just blessed through Abraham like the physical descendants of the nation of Israel (Gen 26:24), but rather blessed with Abraham through a life of faith that will make us God's friend just like Abraham for eternity ahead (Gal 3:9).

Therefore Paul the great apostle concludes even though he himself was a physical descendant of Abraham, he valued his spiritual descendant-badge as a greater honor than the physical one saying, “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”" (Galatians 3:29). In short, if you are a Christian, you are the true spiritual descendant of Abraham who is the father of our faith (Heb 11:8; Gen 12:1; 15:6; Gal 3:28). Later before ending his Book of Galatians, Paul the apostle blessed the Church members by recognizing them as the new spiritual descendants of Abraham who are the true "Israel of God" (Gal 6:16, c).

If Paul the apostle valued his star blessing greater than the dust blessing, how do you see yourself? If Paul the Jew, saw Paul the Christian as the greater one, how do you see yourself today in Christ? Always spiritual authority rules over the physical one (Matt 28:18-20), no one can change that God's order since time began (Rev 3:9-10, 11).

See yourself as God sees you, as the true spiritual descendant of Abraham our father! As you have believed, so be it unto you, you are truly a descendant of Abraham (Rom 4:16; Matt 9:29).
