Is Yoga A Spiritual Philosophy Or Just A Physical Exercise?

Is It Possible To Isolate The Physical Aspects Of Yoga To Practice It As A Regular Exercise?

Question: Is it possible for a Christian to isolate the physical aspects of yoga as simply a method of exercise, without incorporating the spirituality or philosophy behind it?

Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name!

Christians should always be cautious to tread on the danger line of this present world religious philosopies that are sugar coated and disguised as just physical exercise in Yoga.

Apostle Paul warned the Christians saying,
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ." (Col 2:8, NIV). Yoga is the exact thing that matches the above description of apostle Paul which mixes human tradition and spiritual forces working behind it to lead people to empty deception.

Yoga does mean "union," and the goal is to unite one's transitory (temporary) self with the infinite Brahman, the Hinduistic concept of "God." Yoga doesn't even differentiate God and man as seperate beings once we operate within its philosophy.

Root Of Yoga And Its Empty Philosophy

Dear saints, the word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, ...meaning "to yoke or join together." , (i.e.) the practitioners of yoga believe that the continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with their environment by their union of mind and body. So the traditional philosophy of Yoga is a Indian product which believes that God is a infinite force, and only he can be relatable to us when we come in to union through practicing yoga, and therefore the resulting well being of the temporary soul with the personal relatable spiritual substance of god that is one with nature and the cosmos. This is exactly "pantheism," which is the belief that everything is God and God is in everything, and that, reality consists only of the universe and nature. You become what pose you are holding, in other words, when you are holding a snake pose, you become a snake. When you are holding tree pose, you become a tree. When you pose as a monkey or lion, you become one. Thus God is taken out of the picture, to focus on the earthly things which become a rebellious posture towards God, but a inviting posture towards the spirits world. In other words, instead of looking for a idol to worship outside of human, in Yoga, humans become their own idols to worship the god within themselves through their poses of worship.

Hence it is a so called spirituality that says, God and man becomes one, it ultimately leads to worshiping of self and glorifying humanism and its power to achieve great things when we realize our inner positive power and disciple self to deny the negative power, which brings the potential and power hidden within humans to existence for well being and prosperity of all mankind. That sounds good, but the fact of the matter is, God who created the heavens and the earth, the God who claims to speak through the Bible to all humanity, the God who loves humans and have given His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to save them from sin and bring them in to eternal fellowship with Himself
(John 3:16), etc...not a trace of Him you can find in Yoga except humanism at its best.

Yoga is a mind and body practice, which co-relates to promote blatantly anti-Christian philosophy, to focus on oneself instead of on the one true God who created all humans and have promised to judge the whole mankind according to their works or deeds done in their life time on earth
(Acts 26:20; 1 Pet 4:5; 2 Tim 4:1; Heb 9:27).

Body And Mind Connection

People want to promote the "yoga-asanas" (union-physical poses) part to promote improved control of mind and body and to enhance well-being. But my question to you is, is it possible for a Christian to isolate the physical aspects of yoga as simply a method of exercise, without incorporating the spirituality or philosophy behind it?

Do you think that you can play with a fire and yet not be burnt? Do you think that you can play with a poisonous snake and yet can keep it tamed as your toy to your benefit? Do you think you can get a wicked person to work for you, and through it you can use the benefit of income that comes to build the temple of God which is your body and maintain it
(1 Cor 6:9, 15, 19; 2 Cor 6:16)? I do not think so, only those who are with a cluttered mindset can even consider it as a choice when God says that we cannot mix our faith with empty philosophies of people. You cannot mix what is unholy with holy things and get a holy output (Matt 7:6), the moment holy and unholy things meet together, the holy becomes unholy and not vice versa with out the blood of Christ sprinkled on it again by faith (Heb 9:14; 1 John 1:7; 1 Cor 6:11; Acts 15:28-29; Acts 26:18). Hence no other philosophies of men should ever be added to the Word of God and Prayer for our own spiritual sanctification and well being (1 Tim 4:5). And remember only God who started it, can do it for you and finish it till your end (1 Thes 5:23-24). No yoga can do the sanctifying work in life of a Christian except the God of the Bible who warns against yoga like empty philosophies which can bring no spiritual benefits at all, whether the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) believes the rewards of basic yoga outweigh the potential physical risks or what the Europeans or the Asians believe it to be, we as Christians should learn to stay away from the practice of Yoga whether with body or the mind. My simple logic is, when a cake is in a food poisoned decayed state, just because the cream is still good on the surface, we cannot gorge on it foolishly. It is the same with yoga-asana, the cream of physical benefit (i.e. asana) done externally cannot give us good health enough at the potential risk of spiritual decay that is waiting to unfold with the inner philosophy of yoga (i.e. union with inner self or god) that is decayed. Either you use 'Yogasana' and lose Divine favor upon your life, or stay away from it and gain what God of the Bible has promised, a health by Divine Favor when we obey and fear Him alone (Exo 15:26; Deut 7:15; John 10:10). God wants all believers to worship Him in spirit and in truth, which means not only our motives are sought by God, but God seeks our obedience to the truth expressed in the Bible along with the right motive and clear conscience (John 4:23-24; 1 Cor 4:4).

Don't mistake me, I am a fitness freak and believe in healthy eating and exercise for maintaining earthly physical blessing that God has already given, as the Bible describes this saying,
"...Workouts in the gymnasium are [very] useful [as long as we live in this earth], but a disciplined life in God is far more so [because the spiritual exercise will help you achieve fitness in the physical though self-control and discipline], making you fit both today and forever." (1 Tim 4:8, The Message).

So stay away from Yoga but use gymnasium for your health benefits which has no philosophy behind it to deceive you against the God of the Bible. Even when the practice of Yoga is mixed with the movements of stretching to be taught to you as pre-workout warm up session or post-workout cool down session, beware, stay away from it. Yoga is Hindu Evangelism in disguise. Do not be deceived!

Where The Word Of God Is Broken, Only Satan Reigns In The Empty Mind

There are enough indication of deceit in Yoga, as it encourages its participants to seek the answers to life's difficult questions within their own consciousness instead of in the Word of God, through which Satan is seeking as a angel of light whom he may devour as victims through the deceit of Yogasanam and take them away from the Simplicity of the message of the Gospel of Christ
(1 Pet 5:8; 2 Cor 11:3, 14). Stay away from Yogasanam!

Paul clearly said,
"Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (Philippians 4:8, NLT).

Further He instructed all Christians to set their mind on things above where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God, and not on things on earth
(Col 3:1-2). Yoga instructs the practitioners of it, to empty their mind and keep it in a blank state and then fill it with the things of the earth, which is just opposite to the instruction Paul has been giving to the Christians, so then in rebellion to God's ways through practicing 'Yoga', the mind becomes a home and breeding ground for all demonic powers to thrive and work through it bringing all the darkness and its forces of Satan in to the life of a Christian to cause devastation in their lives and families. O what a pity when God's people live rebelliously to God and His Word by conforming to the standards of the world!

Thus the bottomline is, yoga is a mind and body practice with historical origins in ancient Indian philosophy. Various styles of yoga combine physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. In 5,000 years of yoga history, the term "yoga" has gone through a renaissance in current culture but the philosophy remains the same, except exchanging the loincloth for a leotard and leggings. Yoga has become popular as a form of physical exercise based upon asanas (physical poses) to promote improved control of mind and body and to enhance well-being, but as we have seen already, it doesn't work well at all for Christians who are followers of Jesus Christ their Lord and Master because of the philosophy behind yoga which is pantheistic and Godless one. You cannot practice the physical aspect without being in touch with the other spiritual aspect in yoga, because both are interwined to work parallelly.

Is Yoga The World Famous End Time Deception?

The newly released 2016 Yoga in America Study Conducted by Yoga Journal and Yoga Alliance shows that the number of US yoga practitioners has increased to more than 36 million, up from 20.4 million in 2012, while annual practitioner spending on yoga classes, clothing, equipment, and accessories rose to $16 billion, up from $10 billion over the past four years. How many Christians who are born again are in this crowd of people the survey of Yoga Journal and Yoga Alliance reveals, I do not know. But one thing I know is that the Christians voice have not been loud and bold enough to speak against Yoga, and just have been saying to just exercise caution and pray for discernment regarding involvement in yoga, but when in fact when we delve in to its working, there is nothing to pray about it as it stands against the very principle of the Word of God and the God of the Bible, clearly we must avoid it completely and also warn others who are in the danger of being misguided in to it. Shall we rise up and blow the trumpet of the Lord! Amen!

Every pose in Yoga represent a worship towards certain spirit and is an invitation to them personally for them to enter in to their practitioners to unite in union, and therefore the participation from the spirit world cannot be avoided just because we do something knowingly or unknowingly. The devil said to Eve, you eat the fruit and you will not die in rebellion to the Word of God, and what happened she became dead to God after disobedience, even so with Yoga (Gen 3:1-7).

The Spirits Of Yoga Empowers Each Practitioners Which Works Against The Spirit Of God

Many of its poses and sequences of poses are inspired by Hindu mythology. Its active poses are devotion in motion, the embodied veneration of figures from sacred Hindu literature. Its passive poses are physical philosophy, the bodily expression of non-dual Oneness philosophy. Active poses represent certain Hindu gods, creature beings, and sages after which the poses are named and patterned and to which they have been dedicated. The practice of such poses is a type of role playing of another spirit being, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Passive meditation poses represent the Hindu Supreme Reality, or Brahman, which is cosmic consciousness. The practice of such poses identifies a person with the Hindu Supreme. Yoga poses send messages to the spirit world, attracting spirits of Hinduism. Calling on a person's name invites them to you, even though you may not know the language of the person you have invited or their behavior, whether they are good or evil, or anything about them. When we hand-signal through traffic without knowing its true meaning, that leads us straight in to an accident with another person on the road because they take our posing or gesture with a meaning that they understand. So ignorance cannot be a bliss when it comes to the natural as well as the spiritual world. Even so, with Yoga in the spirit world.

Yoga is a full body “come here” signal; it is a full body “I adore and I invite” signal. Those spirits of demons which are honored by poses named after them and dedicated to them and shaped after them, show up to a performance in their honor
(1 Cor 10:20; Deut 32:17). Demons are intelligent beings who can understand the posing invitations of Yoga, and therefore it responds directly to it whether we realize it or not (Matt 12:43-45). Spiritual ignorance is foolishness personified. Therefore, ignorance is never a defense, for spirits exploit ignorance; nor is unwillingness a defense if we participate; our participation sufficiently engages our will. Spirits do not require informed consent because they do not honor human will the way God does. They are glad that pagan worship inherent in yoga is obscured as something beneficial and desirable: as exercise, a health and beauty regimen, and a performing art.

Hatha yoga is one such aspect of yoga that focuses on the physical body through special postures, breathing exercises, and concentration or meditation. And it is a precursor to prepare the body for the spiritual exercises, in order to achieve enlightenment with fewer obstacles. The oldest text on hatha yoga, the Yoga Sutras, opens with this dedication to Brahman or “Om”. Doing the practice of yoga gives spirits of yoga a license to operate in our lives. Yogis are person who have become proficient in the practice of Yoga. Never look to yogis and get amused by what they do, because they have sold themselves to the spirit world of Satanic influences, they are able to do what they do. Avoid all kinds of Yogis, for such people will amuse you and deceive you.

My Heart Felt Prayer For You

Thus Stay away from it O Saints of God, do not play with the lurking danger of Yoga in your spiritual life and be misled in to destruction towards your precious spiritual life, which has great reward from God when it is lived out abundantly now
(John 10:10), for which the aftereffects of dividends continues way in to eternity (Heb 10:35-39)

My prayer for you all is, "May God keep all the diligent and obedient Christians from the evil deception of Yoga. May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob cause all the obedient Christians to be blessed and favored supernaturally for staying away from the evil of Yoga. May every one who is diligent to obey the God of the Bible and keep away from allowing the alien spirits of yoga from entering their body be supernaturally blessed to have divine health and fitness, and a life of great Testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ in these end of end times. "23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it." (1 Thess 5:23-24), "24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, 25 To God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen." (Jude 1:24-25)."
