What Does It Mean When Jesus Sits Or When He Stands In Heaven?

Why Jesus Who Sits, Suddenly Stood When His Disciple Was Martyred?

Question: JESUS is seated at the right hand of the Father, but when Stephen was being stoned, he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of the father WHY?.

Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name!

Yes you are right, according to the Scripture, though Jesus was God and when he obeyed the Heavenly Father's to be his human servant, to represent him and show His love for all humans by taking their sins and dying for them on the Cross, our Heavenly Father then lifted Jesus high above all and gave him a name that is high above all names
(Php 2:5-11). Jesus voluntarily came forward to fulfill all those things and then while dying gave himself in to the hands of his Heavenly Father (Luke 23:46), who was very pleased with His sinless life and made Him to rise from the dead so that all who believe Him could be raised from the dead in the future (Acts 2:24; 1 Cor 6:14).

After He rose up, he stayed with all his disciples and apostles for around forty days to teach then about the Kingdom of God
(Acts 1:1-3), then as He ascended in to heaven, all the 120 saw Him and two angels who stood by them said to them that the way they have seen Jesus go up, in the same way He will come again to the earth very soon (Acts 1:9-11; 1 John 3:2, 3; 2 Thess 1:6-7, 10; 2:1; 1 Thess 4:14-18). Once Jesus entered heaven, He was honored by the Father for his eternal accomplishment by being seated with Him at His right hand in the heavenly places (Eph 1:20; Heb 12:2; Mark 16:19; Col 3:1; 1 Pet 3:22; Rom 8:34). Seated at the right hand of the Father God is literal as well as symbolic language which conveys to us that, Jesus is now literally seated at the right hand of God in the heavenly temple as a representative of us who believe Him, as He is our High Priest (Heb 1:8, 13; 8:1-2), and also have become the ruler of the entire universe as He holds the power and authority of God over it all (Matt 28:18-20; Dan 7:13-14; Mark 14:61-62; Eph 2:6).

One of the main reason that the Lord is seated is because the work of salvation is already finished
(John 19:28, 30), and in the eyes of God all the believers are already seated along with Christ Jesus at His right hand of power already (Eph 2:6). God has promised to Jesus that because He will continue to sit and relax at His right hand, He through His exceeding riches of His Grace in His kindness towards all the people whom He has redeemed, will bring the earth back in to subjection under His authority by using the very redeemed people as the very instrument of execution of that promise He has given to subdue all the earth under His feet (Eph 1:21-22, 23; Php 3:20-21; Rom 8:18-30), so that at the end of it all the enemies of Jesus Christ will be made a foot stool to Him (Heb 1:13; Eph 2:7). When the earth is burnt from the literal fire of heaven, at the end of the Millennial rule of Jesus Christ our Lord, then perfectly all the enemies of Christ Jesus will forever become permanently a footstool under His authority in hell fire forever and ever (Rev 20:7-10). Until then the enemies of Jesus Christ will continue to fight against His people on earth, that is why when Saul was threatening the Church, beating them and killing them of whom Stephen was one among them (Acts 22:20), Jesus appeared to him in a vision and said, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? I am Jesus whom you are persecuting...(Acts 9:4-5)", He did not say, 'Why are you persecuting my people?', because the anger of godless people against Christians was not a natural anger but it is a spiritual anger that was stirred up by the demonic world of Satan and his fallen angelic cohorts against Jesus and God, that made these religious nuts become furious against Christians. So the Christians are the people of God who fight not against the people naturally with swords and stick, but through their prayer, faith, word of God and spiritual warfare done in love they become God's spiritual warriors and soldiers to overcome these evil forces that tries to attack and destroy them from physical existence (Eph 6:10-20). The unbelievers do what they do because of the spirit of disobedience that works in them (Eph 2:2), so none of the soldiers of Christ fight them or hate them but the spirit of Satan and his cohorts which works through them (John 3:16). While we as believers by the grace of God stay in balance by hating the sin sinners do, but at the same time loving the sinner as a person in need of salvation through Jesus Christ for whom he died. Praise the Lord!

Even when Jesus was crucified, it was the anger and insult of people against God, that was fallen on Jesus
(Rom 15:3). In the same way, because the Christians stand in the authority of Jesus now spiritually, Satan and his demonic minions show their hate for God and His Christ against the people of God who were first called as Christians nearly two thousand years ago in Antioch (Acts 11:26; Psa 69:9). Since then the Church has been continually in spiritual warfare, and God has promised to use the Church to bring all the enemies of the Jesus Christ to be made His footstool on earth.

Stephen the apostolic warrior and commander in the army of Jesus was martyred in honor of His holy name in the following way when he finished preaching his mighty anointed sermon from heaven,
" 54 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep." (Acts 7:54-60).

In the above horrendous scenario of brutal stoning and murder by false allegation against Stephen the evangelist disciple of Jesus, we see that it is written that Stephen
"being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God". This shows that when Stephen looked up to God, Jesus was indicating that it was time up for him to come to him in to His eternal Glory, and the work on earth has been finished which He has done faithfully until then. This shows to us that not even one death of the Martyr that has been killed for the name of Jesus Christ for the past two thousand years have happened because of chance, but because of His sovereign will, that He has allowed them to have the highest honor of being a martyr by His Grace!

Jesus stands from His throne, to show to heaven and to the martyrs on the move from earth to heaven, how precious and honorable their death is in His sight
(Psa 116:15). Jesus also stood at the right hand of God, to show to Stephen that all the time he has been spiritually fighting on earth for His holy name is over and done, now you come and be seated in heaven to rule with Me and I will stand to serve you here as your dear personal friend and High Priest before God forever and ever (Luke 22:18; Matt 26:29; Mark 14:25; Heb 7:25; Rev 3:21; 2:26; 21:4). Jesus also stood at the right hand of God to honor Stephen by confessing his name before the Father and the Holy angels of heaven (Luke 12:8-9; Matt 10:32; Psa 119:46), what a honor for any man to be recognized by Jesus through his earthly name in heaven and be written a new heavenly name of God over him in recognition of his earthly service. Or be provided a white badge stone of honor and crown of life as God's general and further be allowed to eat in the exclusive royal table of God where the hidden manna of intimacy with God will be supplied to these exclusive members for that privilege to stay with that person for eternity ahead. Or last but not the least be allowed to eat the tree of life in the paradise of God to have a intimate knowledge of God and His ways to live forever in His blessedness, which actually sustains catapults and converts the heavenly life in to every ounce of glorious eternal existence then in our new experience of heaven (Rev 3:5, 12; 2:17, 7, 10; Gen 3:22; Psa 103:7). Hallelujah! When Jesus stands, the whole of Heaven will notice it and will give honor for the very reason He stands!

Much Blessings....
