Question: Did you know that Constantine the Great, the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity, remained a committed sun worshiper? Even though he recognized Christianity through his edict of Milan in 313 CE, he continued to worship the sun. In 321 CE he officially declared Sunday, from the Latin, dies Solis, meaning “day of the sun,” as the day of rest and in so doing forever changed Sabbath worship from Saturday to Sunday for most of Christianity."
WAS IT REALLY CHANGED?
A Catholic Refute: There is no verse that says, “The Sabbath is changed from Saturday to Sunday,” and Catholics don’t pretend there is. What the Bible shows is that Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, fulfilled it, and the Apostles—under His authority—began worshiping on the Lord’s Day, the first day of the week (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2; Revelation 1:10). Catholics are not breaking the Ten Commandments; we keep the command to make holy the Lord’s Day as the Apostles did. The issue isn’t the commandment—it’s whether you accept Apostolic authority or only private interpretation.
An Apostolic Refute: We do not follow Constantine, but our dear Lord Jesus Christ who died for us personally on the Calvary tree, and thus have become our eternal Sabbath. So because of this reason, we are not told or commanded to keep the Sabbath by the letter of the law, but rather by the letter of the Spirit written in our hearts. What does it mean by that? It means we unburden to God not just on Sunday or in any particular day of the week to keep it holy, but we are invited by Jesus to unburden ourselves as Christians all the time, each day, hour and every second, to enter into that Sabbath rest which Jesus Christ provides, not by our doing of the law, but by His doings through his sinless life, death and resurrection, which we receive as unmerited favour from Him as tangible peace that passes all our understanding, joy unspeakable and righteousness imputed, imparted and restored for the glory of God which provides supernatural rest in our Soul.
SO SABBATH NOW FOR A CHRISTIAN IS NOT A PHYSICAL ACT OF SEPERATING ONE DAY IN 7 DAYS AND KEEPING IT HOLY, IT IS THE SPIRITUAL ACT OF GOING TO JESUS ON A DAY TO DAY, HOUR TO HOUR AND SECOND TO SECOND BASIS TO UNBURDEN OUR CARES AND HEAVY LOADS OF NEEDS OR EVEN WANTS, TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD THE FATHER THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS. JESUS CHRIST IS THE ETERNAL FULFILLED SABBATH, WHICH EVERY CHRISTIAN IS INVITED BY JESUS HIMSELF TO ENJOY AND KEEP THROUGH THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT(Heb 5:9-11; Matt 11:28-30), IT CAN BE ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY OR EVEN ANYOTHER DAY OR EVEN EVERDAY WHICH IS WHAT GOD EXPECTS, NOT TO ACHIEVE RIGHTEOUSNESS, BUT TO ENJOY THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF FAITH THAT COMES THROUGH JESUS.
Much Blessings.......
