The Idiom: "No Man Knows the Day or Hour" In Matthew 24:36, when Jesus stated, "But of that day and hour no one knows," He was not just stating a fact; He was using a well-known ancient Hebrew idiom specifically referencing the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah / Rosh Hashanah).
THE SIGHTING OF THE NEW MOON: Unlike other Jewish feasts that occurred in the middle of the month when the moon was full and easily visible, the Feast of Trumpets was the only feast that began on the first day of the month (the new moon).
THE TWO WITNESSES: Because the moon's first silver crescent is incredibly difficult to spot, the Sanhedrin relied on two eyewitnesses to confirm they saw it. Due to potential clouds, haze, or delay, nobody could predict exactly which day or hour the feast would officially be declared sanctified.
THE TITLE: Consequently, the ancient Jews colloquially named the Feast of Trumpets "The Hidden Feast" or "The Day or Hour that No Man Knows." By using this precise idiom, Jesus was dropping a profound prophetic hint that the gathering of His Church would align with the prophetic fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets.
THE TYPE: ELIJAH AND ENOCH
In biblical theology, "types" are historical events or people that act as a shadow or blueprint for a future reality. Enoch and Elijah are the ultimate Old Testament "types" of the Great Pre-Tribulation Rapture.
ENOCH (BEFORE THE FLOOD): Enoch "walked with God, and he was not, for God took him" (Genesis 5:24). Critically, Enoch was removed from the earth before the global judgment of the Great Flood. Noah, by contrast, is a type of Israel who is protected through the judgment.
ELIJAH (BEFORE THE JUDGMENT): Elijah was caught up suddenly to heaven alive in a whirlwind with a chariot of fire (2 Kings 2). He was evacuated from the earth prior to major historical periods of judgment upon the wicked, like Jezebel and others before they could ever reach him or even touch him.
THE PATTERN: Both men bypassed physical death and were snatched away into heaven by God, setting the historical precedent that God extracts His righteous servants prior to pouring out his global, cataclysmic Great Tribulation wrath.
THE 7 TRUMPETS ARE THE WRATH OF GOD
To understand why the Rapture must occur before the Great Tribulation, we have to understand how the different "trumpets" are intertwined in the concept of God's wrath.
Some wrongly think that only the bowls happening at the time of 7th Trumpet is the only wrath of God and take the first 6 Trumpets as just the warning ⚠️ of the two prophets of the coming Wrath of God (Rev 15:7; 16:1; 10:7).
But the Bible clearly pronounces a different picture of the Wrath of God saying, "Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: SEVEN ANGELS HAVING THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, for IN THEM THE WRATH OF GOD IS COMPLETE." (Rev 15:1).
In other words, if Bowls of Wrath only completes the Wrath of God, when did it start? It started with the first Trumpet 🎺 of the two prophets Elijah and Enoch, just when the Antichrist started to place his mandatory 666 mark of the beast (Rev 14:9-11). The earth swallowing the flood of lies and deceit that came out of Dragon's mouth, is the good soil of the earth of the born again person's heart, that supernaturally swallowed up the flood of lies and deceit by the blood of Jesus and overcame it by the word of God (Rev 12:15-17, 11; Matt 13:23; Mark 4:20; Luke 8:15). Glory to God! Hallelujah!
Revelation 8:7–12 (Trumpets 1–4): The first four trumpets mimic the destructive ecological plagues of Exodus (hail, fire, burning of a third of the earth's green life, turning a portion of the sea to blood, and darkening the sun and moon), demonstrating active divine intervention of wrath against a rebellious world.
Revelation 9:1–21 (Trumpets 5–6): The fifth and sixth trumpets unleash targeted torments from the abyss and a massive cavalry led by four bound angels at the Euphrates River, resulting in the death of a third of humanity, which will be the deadliest of the ever increasing Wrath of God. Verse 20 notes that the surviving people still "did not repent of the works of their hands," emphasizing that these widespread catastrophes are judicial visitations from God that demanded REPENTANCE or MORE WRATH.
Revelation 11:18 reveals, "The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come," when "the seventh angel sounded" (Rev 11:15), which shows that all the 7 Trumpets are God's testimony to the nations to repent and receive the coming Kingdom of God or face increasing Wrath of God which will end with the 7th Trumpet, the Last one which will start to destroy the Antichrist and his kingdom to bring the Second Coming of Jesus to the earth to rule for a thousand years. Hallelujah!
THE TRUMP OF GOD VS. ANGELIC TRUMPETS:
The Rapture is signaled by the "Trump of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:16) before the Great Tribulation, the Rapture will happen, and after the Great Tribulation ends "in the days of the sounding of the seventh trumpet" (Rev 10:7), the "last trumpet" of the Laodicean Church Age will sound forth at the time of the Second Coming Trump of God as Jesus Christ comes to Earth and arrives on the Temple Mount (1 Corinthians 15:52).
The Rapture Trumpet is a trumpet of assembly, gathering THE BRIDE OF CHRIST home first during RAPTURE before the Great Tribulation, and then by time of the last Trumpet gathering, the GREAT TRIBULATION MARTYRED LAODICEAN CHURCH SAINTS from all over the world will be gathered together in a glorious Millennial body resurrection. This will happen after the Great Tribulation will be over at the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, which the Apostle John referred to as the BLESSED FIRST RESURRECTION OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION SAINTS OF LAODICEAN CHURCH, AS WELL AS THE ALL TIME MARTYRS OF THE ENTIRE AGES (Rev 20:4-6).
Conversely, the Seven Trumpets found in the Book of Revelation (chapters 8-11) are sounded by angels. These are explicitly trumpets of alarm and Wrath, warfare, and judgment that unleash the horrific plagues of the Great Tribulation upon the earth.
Exemption from Wrath: The Great Tribulation is defined biblically as the period when the Wrath of God is poured out on a rebellious world.
However, Scripture explicitly promises the Church: "For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thessalonians 5:9). Because the Church is already justified by Christ's blood, it cannot be present on earth to suffer God's divine wrath.
CONCLUSION: PRECISE MECHANICS OF THE GREAT PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE
If you put all these pieces together, the timeline becomes logically locked in the Great Pre-Tribulation framework: The falling away of Peace and Safety is calculable: Once the Tribulation of conquering the world begins (marked by the Antichrist signing a 7-year covenant), a person can count exactly 2,520 days to the Second Coming of Christ.
But as for the Rapture, it might happen anytime after the mid-point as the day and hour could not be calculated as the two prophets will confirm the Rapture through coming to the earth and blowing the first Trumpet to start the Wrath of the Great Tribulation.
The Rapture is imminent: Because the Rapture is a "no man knows the day or hour" event, it has no preceding signs. It must happen unexpectedly at any given moment.
THE EXTRACTION: Just like Enoch and Elijah were pulled from the earth before devastation struck, the "Trump of God" will sound. The Church will be raptured in the twinkling of an eye, thus fulfilling the hidden mystery of the Feast of Trumpets, safely evacuating God's people before the First Angelic Trumpet sounds to unleash the Wrath of God upon the earth.
