A : God warned the people of God in the Old Testament times not to make any covenant with heathen people who lived in the surrounding nations who worshipped their pantheistic gods. Here is the reason why God told them why not to especially marry and mingle with them, "14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods. 17 “You shall make no molded gods for yourselves." (Exo 34:14-17). God forbided the Israelites not to intermarry with the native inhabitants of the Canaan land or with any other pagans, so that the people of God might not be misled in to idol worship by them and as a result of it compromise in their belief and worship their so called gods, which will incur the wrath of their jealous God upon their lives.
How can God be jealous and also be a good God? Is jealousy not a bad thing? The jealousy of God over his people is like a married man jealously watching over his wife to whom he has covenanted to be faithful, and thus protecting her from all evil influences that breaks a good marriage and fidelity. Human jealousy is evil because sin nature inherent within us from our birth causes selfish evil actions to come out of it (James 3:14). Without God's help it is impossible to be jealous for the rights reasons and cause ourselves to act with loving actions in respose to it. Also acting in Agape unconditional love of God like this because of a pure motive to keep the object of jealousy safe and secure is a sign of the true love of our God. Our God is a jealous God because he is the one who has covenanted and paid the price with His very own only begotten Son's life, to buy us all from our sins and therefore He has rights to claim our sole worship towards Himself (1 Cor 6:20; 1 Peter 1:18-19). To the Israelites God commanded to worship none other than Himself because He was the only one who took the risk to bring these people out of the land of Egypt in which they lived as slaves and redeemed them from the house of bondage (Exodus 20:1-6).
Ahab the son of Omri who was the king of Israel started to rule the Northern nation of Israel around 869 – 850 BC. Against God's commandments, he inter married with a heathen king's daughter who was a Baal worshipper and therefore began to build an altar in the temple of Baal in Samaria to please his heathen wife Jezebel, then served and worshiped this male diety of Baal (1 Kings 16:31). Baal means "The Lord, master, owner (male), keeper, husband". Jezebel promoted herself as the prophetess of Baal in Israel and promoted a cultic Baal worship in which sexually people were seduced in to worshipping this heathen deity and promiscuity was promoted among its worshipers. The cult of this god was prominent in Israel until the reign of Jehu, who put an end to it (2 Kings 10:26). Because she held herself as the chief priestess and prophetess of this cultic worship, Jezebel was against true prophets and have always tried to kill their prophetic ministry (1 Kings 18:4; 19:1-2). The prophet Elijah was the one who confronted this evil of Baal worship face to face with Baal followers and destroyed them all completely by proving through bringing a supernatural fire from heaven and thus justified that the Jehovah God of Israel is the only God who is worthy of worship of all the people of God (1 Kings 18:21, 24, 37-40). Praise the Lord! From this place the New Testament refers and identifies this heathen spirit that promoted Baal worship in Israel as the "woman Jezebel" because it worked through Jezebel the queen. Jezebel took the authority of king in her own hands to do evil and promote her own evil agendas of idolatry and sexual immorality (1 Kings 21:5, 7). She influences the elders of the people through power, seduction and money to fullfill her evil desires (1 Kings 21:11, 14-15). Jezebel always takes strategic position behind leadership and stir it up to do evil (1 Kings 21:25). God himself avenges the prophets blood by killing Jezebel in His time (2 Kings 9:7). Jezebel will always seduce people in time of her danger (2 Kings 9:30). But God's zealous kingly anointing of the apostles will destroy her and make it as a refuse to make dogs eat the flesh and drink her blood which killed all the prophet and prophetic voices (2 Kings 9:36-37).
Much has been written about the characteristics of Jezebel spirit. But only in one place in the entire New Testament Jezebel is mentioned. Apostle John in the book of Revelation said, "20 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. 22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. 23 I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. 24 “Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. 25 But hold fast what you have till I come." (Rev 2:20-25).
This above verses is the message of warning directly from Jesus through the prophet apostle John to the Church of Thyatira in which there was a corrupt Jezebel spirit ruling in the Church in the 1st century. So Jezebel mainly tries to infiltrate in to the Church and operates within it to corrupt it. Already the world is ruled by the spirit of the world, so there is no point in knowing whether Jezebel operates in the world system of governance or not, of course it is (1 Cor 2:12). Prophetically in two ways the Scriptures will be always be fullfilled, one will be a situation of reality at the present time in which prophecies come out and God will symbolically take that present time message to someone or something and will fullfill it in the future. This is what happened in the case of the prophetic message of Jesus Christ to the seven Churches. Each Church represented a real Church in seven cities of Asia Minor which were located within a perimeter of 100 miles and also even today the ruins of these cities can be seen in modern day Turkey, and also symbolically it represented the time periods in which the all time Church of Jesus Christ will be going through a particular phase of problems. The Church of Thyatira symbolically had actually been dominant during the 8th to 13th Century period of time in the past. During this time the main line catholic Church was plagued with immorality and idolatry within the Church due to this particular spirit of Jezebel that plagued the Church life.
In the first century Church a woman who must have been a wife of a senior elder and elder herself, in whom this Jezebel spirit came upon her and started to plague the Church with idolatry and sexual immorality. This spirit usually comes upon women who are strategically placed with in a Church community and it can come upon men too. The first thing we see is that she called herself a prophetess. Jezebel spirit gives a title of honor for itself. The leader of the Church if he had been careful, he could have prevented this moral collapse that happened in the Church and that which brought idolatry in to the Church. Because of giving priority to fleshly relationship over the spiritual one, the pastor of the Church completely failed in his God-given duties to shepherd the Church of God which has been bought with the blood of Jesus (Acts 20:28). Many leaders I have seen fail in this regard desperately and fail to fullfill the calling of Jesus over their lives in faithfullness and perfection later in their lives. NEVER GIVE PREFERENCE TO YOUR FLESHLY RELATIONSHIP OVER SPIRITUAL ONE, IT WILL RUIN YOU AND THOSE WHO ARE UNDER YOUR SHEPHERDING CARE.
The Jezebel spirit teaches and seduces over a period of time to make people eat its spiritual facade. God was so merciful enough that he gave enough time for this women to repent of its evil and turn towards the Lord. This women Jezebel did not repent in the given time of God's mercy, and therefore God has promised to cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation. God judges both the instigator of evil and those who partake of it from within the Church who are believers. The instigator who is the woman Jezebel and the spirit that possessed her is promised a slow death through being cast in to sick bed, but the believers will be cast in to great tribulation to refine, purify and turn them from the evil of such Jezebelic seduction (Dan 11:35; 1 Pet 4:17-18). But God in His extended mercies gives both these group of people still time to repent through these hard times of suffering. The leader and the followers who were deceived through these evil seduction of Jezebel spirit is given a last minute merciful rescue time to repent of their deeds. O what a merciful God we have! But God has promised in His anger to kill the deceptive children with death who were born in the Church through Jezebelic spirit and doctrine (Gal 1:6-9), because these deceptive children were never born of the Spirit and the true Word of God (John 3:3, 5; 1 Pet 1:23). Also we should understand that all these disciplining judgments upon the people of God and the leadership alike is an example given by God to all other Churches to be careful of such deeds which will bring God's discipline in their lives too if they are involved in such a deception (1 Cor 10:5-12; Rom 15:4). GOD SAVES ALL BELIEVERS ALIKE BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, BUT HE REWARDS EACH ONE ON EARTH AND IN ETERNITY ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS.

The depths of Satan is seducing the servants of God and make them commit adultery, then make them worship the false God of lust and money. In todays description, this Jezebelic doctrine is disguised as doctrine of free grace as a licence to sin and properity gospel which says that you can be rich and prosperous, if you give to God a major portion of your income and keep giving to the prosperity proclaiming ministries in the vineyard of God. But God has clearly told in the New Testament you cannot serve both money and God together at the same time, it is impossible (Luke 16:13). It is not wrong to become rich when God really blesses us (Pro 10:22), but it is wrong when we lust to become rich by trying to bribe God through sowing and offering our money with coveteousness in our heart (1 Tim 6:9). We should not give to God out of expectation in receiving more, but should give in gratefulness for what He has already done spiritually for us by dying on the Cross for our sins and bringing us back in to friendship with God (2 Cor 9:7; Rom 5:1). When God sees a cheerful giver who gives to God in gratefullness for his salvation, God see his good motives and joyfully pours out His blessing upon the givers life, so that they could be a blessing to many (2 Cor 9:7-8). God has given true promise to take care of our physical needs also along with our spiritual one if we continue to trust Him and His faithfullness in providing us all our needs (Rom 8:32; Phil 4:19).
Also this Jezebel spirit creates a rebellion in the heart of all the saints of God. Nobody in the Church will openly practice idolatry and sexual immorality. But spiritually they will "covet" which is idolatry according to God (Col 3:5), also many in the Church consider it is not a big thing to lust after a woman's beauty in their mind, which according to Jesus is a spiritual adultery (Matt 5:27-28). Many in the Church who want to get rich without being satisfied with what God has already given them are trying to serve the false God of money (Luke 16:13). Those who are deceived spiritually by these Jezebelic spirit must open their eyes now and should repent of their spiritual deeds toward God, so that their life might not bear fruit of flesh and get caught in the discipline of God's chastisement and also waste their one God given life because of spiritual deception. So in these end times we should be careful not only of outward deeds but also the inward spiritual thoughts which when let freely corrupts our body which is the Church of God (2 Cor 10:4-5; 1 Cor 3:16-17). MAY GOD HELP US ALL TO DESTROY THE INFUENCE OF EVIL JEZEBEL OVER OUR LIVES AND GUARD THE SHEEPS GIVEN IN OUR CARE, BY MORTIFYING OUR FLESH LIFE BY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD (Rom 13:14; Gal 5:16-17).
