Revelation 3:10 is powerful: Jesus promises the faithful church, “I will keep you from (Greek: tēreō ek = keep out of / guard from) the hour of trial that is coming upon the whole world...”
He doesn’t say “keep you through” it (which would been in Greek). Compare it to Jesus’ prayer in John 17:15: “I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from (tēreō ek) the evil one.” It’s the same exact phrasing — protection by removal from the sphere of judgment, not preservation inside it.
IMPORTANT DISTINCTIONS THE BIBLE MAKES:
Tribulation / Persecution (thlipsis): Yes, believers have always faced this and will continue to in various ways (Philippians 1:29, John 16:33). This is Satan’s wrath against the saints.
God’s Wrath (orgē): The Church is explicitly not appointed to this. “For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). See also 1 Thess 1:10 and Romans 5:9.
The “hour of trial” in Rev 3:10 refers to the time of worldwide testing and God’s judgments poured out on “those who dwell on the earth” (a phrase in Revelation that consistently points to unbelievers). The full 7-year period (Daniel 9:27) includes both persecution and divine wrath — but the promise is to be kept from the hour itself.
RAPTURE VS. SECOND COMING:
The Bible shows two distinct phases of Christ’s return:
The Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17): Believers are “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air — a sudden, imminent event like a thief (1 Thess 5:2-4). Comforting hope, no signs required beforehand for the Church.
THE RAPTURE HAPPENS BEFORE THE GREAT TRIBULATION,
BUT THE SECOND COMING HAPPENS AFTER THE GREAT TRIBULATION.
The Second Coming (Revelation 19, Matthew 24:29-31): Jesus returns visibly to earth with His saints, defeats the nations at Armageddon, and sets up the Kingdom. This is after the Great Tribulation.
THE GREAT TRIBULATION THAT WILL START ANYTIME AFTER MID-POINT WILL BE THE GREAT DIVIDER BETWEEN THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH AND THE FIRST RESURRECTION OF THE TRIBULATION MARTYRS!
The first half of Daniel 70th week of 7 years will be the Great Deception, and what happens within the next half is the Great Tribulation.
In a gist, what is the GREAT TRIBULATION⁉️ THE GREAT TRIBULATION IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN ANYTIME AFTER THE RAPTURE, BUT THE SEVEN TRUMPETS WILL BE THE STARTING TIME OF THE WARNING ABOUT THE COMING WRATH OF GOD THAT GETS ENACTED BY THE TWO PROPHETS AFTER THE MID-POINT‼️
Maranatha!
Much Blessings....
